Auditions: Wednesday, May 25, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Wednesday, May 25, 2011.

There are so many different techniques that actors can utilize to achieve a solid performance. Many local teachers focus on different styles, and some may work perfectly, while others just aren't for you. Whether it's Stanislavsky, Viewpoints, Meisner, or just being you, there is a reason so many people rely on these techniques when focusing on training and improving your acting abilities.

What are some of the techniques you have used in your training, and what have you actually applied when working on set? What works for you, and what doesn't? Sometimes, depending on the role, being a method actor is the best way for me to get a true, honest performance, while others may laugh at method actors and think it's unnecessary to go that far to get a good performance.

Whatever works for you is what you should stick with, but it's always interesting to learn about other actor's techniques, and what your process is to achieve that perfect, natural performance.

Share with us what your process is and what techniques work best for you. Which teachers have you been drawn to that have helped you get that solid performance. Do you use different techniques for different character types? Is your process for film the same as it would be when preparing to perform on stage?

Let's get this week's topic of discussion going

As always, if you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

ALL MALE ACTORS (Portland/Sandy)

JUNE 18. We will be getting a few last pickup shots for a recently-wrapped Shakespeare movie, M4M (an all-male adaptation of Measure for Measure). We need MALE extras of all ages (8-80). Female actors OK (but must appear in male drag). The 18th will be a short day, and shooting will take place on the village set on Mt Hood (just outside the town of Sandy) from noon til about 5-6. Anyone interested can RSVP by sending a head shot and contact info. We cannot have more than 300 extras that day maximum, and are about halfway booked at the time of this posting. Extras for this movie are not paid, but the movie will add an IMDB credit and is the 1st non-TV movie adaptation of the play to use the original language (not just the story).

Theatre companies, Renaissance fair enthusiasts etc all wlecome. The time period is a mix of Greek,Roman, Elizabthen and with accents of modern day. Emphasis on the masculine key to the aesthetic, tatoos a plus.
If you want to play dress up with dozens and dozens of hot guys in an actual period village and have it end up with you being in a VERY cool movie, do this.
It's going to be a short drive outside of PDX and 4-5 hrs of your time. No lines to memorize etc. Just show up, follow a few very basic instructions so we can get crowd shots, and have some fun.
