actress needed for short film

we are looking for an actress 21 - 29, who can play in a comical role in our short film about the french renaissance. Scene is super simple, our heroes walking past a lady who is in labor on the street, in attempt to help her give birth, she instead accidentally rips a noisy flatulent. Its a super stupid movie, but its going to be hilarious. And it wont be too hard as you'd only have like a half a page of dialog.
If you are interested send us an email with pic and resume and we will give you info on the filmimg days/
Thanks!

Diverse cast sought for new play (Portland)
We are looking for young men and women of various ethnic backgrounds for a dialogue-heavy short play. Stage experience highly valued, but it is not a deal-killer if you don't have any. Actors wanting to audition for this project should be able to portray men and women in their mid-twenties, though we will accept head shots from all age groups 21+ (necessary age limit as the final piece will be performed in a bar as one of its venues).

The play itself is satirical in nature, and deals with themes of friendship, rivalry, and sexuality among 20-something Portlanders. It's short, but packs a wallop. The play is a bit politically incorrect, so a sense of humor is a must.

We would like a diverse group of actors. We have 5 female parts and 4 male parts left, and hope to cast lots of different types of people.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Actress wanted for comedy

Looking for an actress to perform in a short student film I am producing. The film follows businessman, Tom, who ends up stranded on his way to a convention and must rely on a young "country" girl to drive him there (even though she has never driven before). A fun comedy with a clash of the two main personalities. The girl I am casting for, Carly, is a common-sense country-type, in her early 20s (20 to 25). A nice character piece. Anyone interested would need a driver's license and a vehicle to use. No experience required.

Student Film Auditions for The Art Institute of Portland - Director's Projects

My acting friends,

Once again I am helping the Film Students at The Art Institute of Portland cast their film projects. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in working on one of these projects please contact me via email. I am setting up a quick meet and read session.

When : Wednesday night, May 9th
Time : 6:00pm to 9:45pm.
Where: The Art Institute of Portland.
1212 NW Davis, 3rd floor.  Studio Rm 310

How to set up an audition appointment?

Email: Shellylipkin@ yahoo.com
IMPORTANT:  In the subject box enter: AI director auditions

I will email you back with an audition time.

I AM ALSO CONTACTING AGENCIES WITH THIS INFO.  PLEASE CONTACT ME DIRECTLY TO SET UP AN AUDITION. NOT THE AGENCY.

How will the session work?

I will have some short sides available. (Very short scenes from well known movies or plays.) There will not be specific auditions for roles from the projects. The directors will contact you based on their casting needs. At that point you can get more information about the given projects.

What to bring?

2 current resumes and headshots.

I would like to set these up by appointment so as not to waste your time. Let me know what what hour would be best. (For example: 1:00 to 3:00) I will try to fit you in somewhere within the hour.  It may not be possible, but I'll try.

If you have questions please email me.

Is there pay?

Not for these projects. However, the directors will give you a copy of the project for your reel.

Hope to see you there,

Shelly

Submission request: actors who sing

Hi All,

I use PATA religiously when it comes to casting - usually a part of invitations to audition for RTR.  At present I'm helping a friend toss around some casting ideas for a musical, and because that's not my area I thought I'd post here, too.

Style of singing is much more rock'n'roll/jazz than traditional musical.  As I'm simply helping out and because the actual auditions are not immediate, I don't know about pay, but will post that info when the time is right, of course.

Actor, Male 40’s - 50’s.  A road weary musician.
Actor, Female 40’s - 50’s.  Uber hip and powerful.
Actor, Male  40’s - 50’s.  The musician's pal since middle school.
Actor, Male  20’s - 30’s.  Streetwise oddball and plastic bucket drummer.
Actor, Male 40’s - 50’s.  Archetypal SE Portland stoner.
3 actors, Female  20’s - 30’s.  Bright, savvy creative agency assistants.

Note: This request is simply to start the thinking process; auditions are some way off.  No need to follow up once you've submitted your information; it will be kept on file for reference when the producers begin casting the show, and if they're interested, they'll be in touch.

I look forward to hearing from interested and qualified performers.

Thanks,

MaryMac

Casting a black female lead for a comedy web series (paid)

Second attempt at casting for a web series -- joining in the ranks of your mom and your friend's baby, who also have web series -- that follows three friends in their mid-twenties(ish) who are maybe over it, the "it" here casting a wide net on everyday life, and includes their jobs at a nightlife PR firm as well as the people they encounter outside of work. In general I'm looking for someone that can pull off a realistic, discerning human who can also be funny, so actually having zero acting experience may be an asset here. Or maybe that just means you'll be terrible, and in which case will be like "fuuuuuu why did I come out for this." Either way, you should feel comforted in the fact that this will be a short, low-key shoot with legitimate equipment and, amazingly, you will be paid! This will be determined once we can all settle on a shooting schedule that works, but it won't just be $50 and then goodbye.

Send an email with a little about who you are to hangoutmakevids@gmail.com. Do it! It'll be fun. Couple of girls hangin out, makin some vids.

Theatre Director needed

I'm looking for a Director for my new show, Ephemory, for a fall production. This is a play about memory, legacy, family and love. Ruth helps her elderly Mother, Carole, pack for her move to the assisted living facility. Handling her keepsakes triggers Carole's memories and Ruth's questions. Carole's vivid memories from the period of her life 1937 to 1950, play out before us with a separate cast. We see Carole become the young immigrant escaping from NAZI Germany, the career girl and the woman who will reunite her family. Receiving this legacy, Ruth comes to understand the magnificence of her own Mother. Carole is whole and heard at last, secure in the transmittal of this important gift.

If this sounds interesting to you and you enjoy translating emotion and time into music and movement within an unconvnetional script, I'd love to talk to you about the project. Director, actors and technicians will be paid.

Thanks,

AUDITIONS: Anonymous Theatre

SECRET SOURCES REVEAL DETAILS FOR ANONYMOUS THEATRE AUDITIONS
Come be a part of the secret...

ABOUT ANONYMOUS THEATRE: A play is selected. Auditions are held. The play is cast. The actors are sworn to secrecy. No one in the cast knows who their fellow performers will be, and they do not reveal their participation in the project to anyone. The actors rehearse one-on-one with the director. Then, on the night of the performance, the cast arrives in street clothes and enters the theatre as if they are members of the audience. They take their seats. They read their programs, chat with their neighbors, and in all ways behave like normal audience members. The house lights dim and the play begins, with each actor delivering his or her first line from the audience. The cast members discover one another's identity for the first time, in front of a live audience!

"...the energy at this show will be electric. Actors rarely get to perform these kind of exhilarating stunts, and audiences rarely get to see them. If the stunt fails, it will fail magnificently, like a daredevil misjudging his leap across that canyon, falling like a dying firefly into a seething abyss."
~ The Portland Mercury

AUDITION DATES: Saturday, June 2 (9am-6pm) and Sunday, June 3 (9am-12pm)
People will be called in for five minute slots.

AUDITION PREPARATION: The audition will be reading from sides, which you will receive with your audition confirmation. Please bring a headshot and resume and come to the audition INCOGNITO. Any kind of disguise is suitable, as long as it COMPLETELY CONCEALS YOUR IDENTITY and can be VERY EASILY REMOVED when you enter the auditions space. What we are looking for:

We are looking for performers who have a deep understanding and ability to convey nuanced subtext.  You should be comfortable with movement and willing to sing.  The style of singing for these characters is honest, real, grounded and somewhat raw.

Synopsis of the play:

"It is the year 2043—a time when any organ of the human body can be mass produced, holographic televisions are the norm and Sam and Jessie have spent a lifetime together, freely and openly as two men in love. With forty years of colorful, intimate experience together, Sam is suddenly confronted by the passing of Jesse. With advancements in medical technology, Jesse’s life could surely have been prolonged—why then would he choose to face death? Suffocated by grief, Sam is swept away into the memories of their shared experience, including the retelling of a Buddhist fable in Costa Rica, a discussion of their careers as artists over buttermilk pancakes and waking up together with sex on the mind. Between barely-existing and living, Sam enters a world where thoughts become tangible, memories are relived through song and the essence of marriage is discovered in dance."

What to bring to auditions:

1.Please prepare a one minute (or less) monologue from a contemporary play
2.A one minute or less movement piece without dialogue (anything goes but be specific about what you are trying to convey)

Actors needed for AI Directing class

To all Portland actors,

I teach at The Art Institute of Portland - Digital Film and Video division. One of my classes is "Directing Actors." The main purpose of this class is to give future film directors experience and skills in communicating and working with actors. The class is held on Wednesday nights from 6pm to 9:45pm for 10 weeks. (It started during the first week of April) Around the 3rd or 4th week I start bringing in actors for on-camera scene work. I'll have a variety of exercises for the directors Some will have you critique their communication and directorial skills. We'll talk about that as we get closer. Let me know what Wednesday nights might work for you. By the way, it's not necessary for you to be there the entire time. I'll also have the directors burn a DVD of your work for you. I hope this will work for you. Let me know.

ABOUT THE PLAY

The Story: In a small English village, Penelope Toop, a former actress and now Vicar’s wife, receives a surprise visit from an old actor friend, Clive Winton. Clive finds himself the victim of multiple cases of mistaken identity when he innocently disguises himself as a vicar to avoid gossip. They valiantly try to evade a cockney maid, a neighboring busybody and assorted clergymen but things get hilariously complicated when the police show up looking for an escaped spy. A classic British farce that has left audiences exhausted with laughter since it debuted in London in 1944!

______________________________________________________________________

The Intruder: (mid 30s or older) Russian (Eastern European) accent. He is a Russian spy and is very mysterious.
The Bishop of Lax: (mid 50s or older) Bishop and uncle of Penelope. A bit of a perfectionist. Very British. Imposing, dignified, accustomed to getting his own way. Must be somewhat agile, though not as much as the others.

ABOUT THE PLAY
Set during World War II, this Pulitzer Prize-winning musical tells the romantic story of two couples and how their happiness is threatened by the realities of war and prejudices. The show is based on the 2008 Broadway revival of South Pacific which won seven Tony Awards.

Nellie Forbush is a nurse working overseas during World War II. She falls in love with a wealthy, older man who owns a plantation there. When she discovers that the mother of his two small children was a Tonkinese woman, the prejudices she grew up with in Arkansas prevent her from accepting his offer of marriage. Her friend, Lt. Cable, has a fiancĂ©e back home, but speaks of her with a sense of duty rather than feelings of love. When he meets a young, innocent Tonkinese girl, he too is forced to face his prejudices. The beloved score’s songs include “Some Enchanted Evening,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair,” “This Nearly Was Mine” and “There is Nothin’ Like a Dame.”

Music for South Pacific is by Richard Rodgers, lyrics are by Oscar Hammerstein II, book is by Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan was the original director. Ron Daum directs Lakewood’s production

short film shoot seeks house! (portland area)

Short film shooting weekend of april 28/29th. Well known Pdx director, cast and crew.

Seeking English Tudor home in Portland area for a shoot April 28-29. Storybook feel; some grandeur, but not modern. A little old, but elegant without being too ritzy/perfect. Think Gretel coming to the Witch's house. Beautiful, but treacherous. Classic, but eccentric. A little set back from road - driveway/staircase/up on edge of road, cliff. See photo for prototype.

Interior is spacious, cold, not too cozy, classic, similar to exterior feel. Not too modern, a little pretentious (new wealth aiming to look old/classy, but not quite). Needs a staircase; preferably in the open, so we can see someone walking up it. And a bedroom to dress like a boy's room from the 80s.

Exterior garden has same feel: trees/ivy/flowers; pretty, taken care of, but not overly manicured. Trellises, paths, ivy-covered wall, gardens of mixed (not too perfect) flowers...

Please email if interested. There is a small budget to pay you for your location:)

thanks.

Audition Announcement

Inviting Desire 2012: The Dawn of Sex
Auditions are April 30th

You are invited to prepare an audition piece for Dance Naked Productions upcoming show, Inviting Desire 2012: The Dawn of Sex.

Dance Naked Productions is a sex-positive theater company based in Portland, Oregon. We make visceral theater that illuminates, educates and entertains. From tantra to taboo, our shows are inclusive, engaging, authentic and arousing.

Inviting Desire is an devised ensemble production. Begun in 2009 with Inviting Desire: A Theatrical Aphrodisiac, the production has grown from primarily personal monologue format to include scenes, songs, and ensemble numbers.
During the course of the rehearsal period, we will discuss, ask questions, send out surveys, improvise, write scenes and monologues, play games, brainstorm- whatever it takes to stimulate our creativity. The topic is sex. The desire is enlightenment. Better sex, more pleasure, increased openness, greater understanding - through the medium of theater. Sex-positive theater...with a happy ending.

We are looking for women (yeah, I know. Sorry guys. Maybe next time) - all kinds of women - virginal and matriarchal, all shapes and sizes, colors and preferences. We are interested in your ability to tell a story, to share your fantasies (even if they never make it to the stage), and to portray with compassion and authenticity the sex lives of other people.

We want to cast women who enjoy talking about, writing about and ultimately, performing a show about sex. Generally, this creates it’s own self-selection process.
That is not to say you need to be into wild, kinky, unusual sex practices to participate- a vanilla palate is a-ok, but an open mind is required.

Some theatrical experience and training is preferred, but not totally necessary. Please bring a recent headshot and resume (or your closest approximation). (If you have neither, a photo and a letter of interest will suffice).

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
For the audition, please prepared a three minute piece. This can be something you have written, or found in a book or play, but it must be erotic in nature. Preferably, it is something that turns you on. From the first person perspective generally works best- fantasies are great, memories told in present tense can work too.

If you have the piece memorized, fantastic. If that makes you too nervous, you can hold book, but please be very familiar with your material.

Suggestions for material can be found in Nancy Friday’s books “My Secret Garden,” “Women on Top” or any number of The Best American Erotica series.
Auditions will include some freewriting and some improv work. Come prepared to move around (i.e. don’t feel like you have to dress “sexy”).

TIME COMMITMENT: Rehearsals will be 2X a month from June through August and then 4X a week starting in September, and into October. Performances will be in November. (exact dates to be determined by cast preference and availability).

Who You are auditioning for
Eleanor O’Brien is Dance Naked Productions’ artistic director and has directed two of the past three Inviting Desires (our touring production, "Lubricate Your Libido" was directed by Brenda Hubbard). This year she will be joined as co-director by Allison Tigard, an alumna of two of the past productions. Annie Herring will assistant direct.

Compensation: percentage of ticket sales

Audition Times:

April 30th: 6-8pm or 8-10pm

Callbacks May 6th: 7-10pm

To schedule an audition - please send an email to Annie Herring at iaintnodamsel@yahoo.com with Inviting Desire 2012 in the subject line and indicate if you would like to audition in the first time slot (April 30th 6-8pm) or the second (April 30th 8-10pm).
