Filipino Actors/Actresses For Staged Reading

I have a need for actors for a reading of my full-length play set in the Philippines that is about prostitution in Alongapo during the Vietnam War.
It has a rather outlandish title, "Little Brown Fucking Machines," but it is a serious, sensitive play about young people forced into "the life" through poverty and power.
My play is being read for the Fertile Ground New Works Festival at Portland Center Stage's Armory on Friday, January 21st (at Noon), and at the Hipbone Studio on Sunday, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m.
In a perfect world, I need four or five young women and one young man of Philippine desent.
In an imperfect world, I seek actors who are Asian or Hispanic or who look as if they fill the requirement.
I know--I know--this is Portland, but there may be some wonderful actors out there who are not usually cast or who have given up or avoided auditioning because they think they aren't "mainstream," and it's you actors I seek.
Now--the hardest part must be discussed. There is a small honorarium for each actor, but it's small, so small that you must not quit your day job. LOL
I will pay the honorarium once Fertile Ground has been completed.
Thanks for your feedback and possible participation.
Very sincerely,
ShaShaSassone

Announcing Auditions for
a staged reading of Fat Pig, by Neil LaBute

A staged reading co-produced by Public Playhouse and CoHo Productions and sponsored by Artists Repertory Theatre

Auditions will be held at CoHo Theater on Saturday, November 13 from 10am-2pm, by appointment only. Bring a headshot and resume to the audition, and prepare 1 contemporary monologue, not to exceed 90 seconds.

There will be two Monday evening performances: January 10 and 17, 2011. Performances will be at ART’s Morrison Stage at 7:30pm. Actors will receive a $100 stipend. An Equity Waiver has been granted for this reading and AEA actors are encouraged to audition.

Fat Pig is directed by Rhett Luedtke. Rhett’s directing credits include the Kennedy Center, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Idaho Repertory Theatre and Salem Repertory Theatre. He is an associate professor of theatre at George Fox University.

CoHo Theater is located at 2257 NW Raleigh St., Portland, 97210. Email auditions@publicplayhouse.org or call Jolin at 503-922-0532 to schedule an appointment.

Helen: A woman in her late 20s / early 30s, plus size (very), funny, charming and piercing intellect. A librarian.

Tom: A man in his late 20s / early 30s, fit, charming, well dressed, moving up the corporate ladder swiftly, but lost.

Carter: A man in his late 20s / early 30s, fit, impeccably dressed, aggressive, a player, entitled and shrewd, moving up the corporate ladder swiftly.

Jeannie: A woman in her late 20s / early 30s, fit, pretty, intelligent, hurt, trying to move up the corporate ladder in a world dominated by men like Carter.

How many insults can you hear before you have to stand up and defend the woman you love? Tom faces just that question when he falls for Helen, a bright, funny, sexy young woman who happens to be plus-sized - and then some. Forced to explain his new relationship to his shallow (although shockingly funny) friends, he finally comes to terms with his own preconceptions of the importance of conventional good looks. Neil LaBute's sharply drawn play not only critiques our slavish adherence to Hollywood ideals of beauty but also boldly questions our own ability to change what we dislike about ourselves.

Casting Call (unpaid) for "Cardenio"

Hi everyone--My name's Neil Anderson, I'm an actor and writer for Cardenio. Well known contemporary art curator Jeff Jahn (www.jeffjahn.com) is directing this version of Shakespeare's lost play "Cardenio." Call it an adaptstraction.

We need to cast two characters, Luscinda and Sancho Panza. Auditions will be November 7th, 2010, at 2:00 pm at Worksound Gallery (820 SE Alder). Parts are unpaid, but both actors will get screen credits. Auditions will consist of line readings from the script, experience with Shakespeare is a plus. Auditions will be filmed, and footage might be used in the finished film, so we'd be asking actors to sign a release at the audition for permission to use the footage.

Luscinda: woman, mid-twenties, the beloved of Cardenio, married against her will to the treacherous Don Fernando.

Sancho Panza: lazy, deceptive, manipulative, greedy, but somehow kind of likable and loyal in his own way.

Actors needed for Staged Reading

Come be a part of a NEW PLAY that goes for the jugular of some real issues.

Title: ZOLUMBINE - Fear Invades Our Schools

Based on a True Story

In 2005, a high school student in Kentucky was arrested for a short story he wrote that involved Zombies invading his high school. He was charged with 2nd Degree Terrorist Threatening and put in jail. While in jail, bail was set at $1000, but the community cried out at the SERIOUSNESS of the offense and bail was raised to $5000…

All too often these days, we hear the phrases Post 9/11 and Post-Columbine thrown around, but have yet to get a firm grasp on how fear has changed our country and more specifically our schools. An attitude has arisen that prevention is key in stopping more attacks on schools. This attitude, while meaning well, has created an environment of suppression, anxiety, and absurd discipline.

Through use of satire and, of course, ZOMBIES!!! This play looks at what happened in Kentucky, separating the absurd from the useful to try and get a better grip on what is happening in today’s schools.

We need a bunch of actors (7-10) to make this play what it should be. Roles for most age ranges 17-60.

Performs Monday, November 22nd at the Community Music Center.

Minimum time commitment. 3-4 rehearsals prior to performance.

Interested?
Call or Email me.

something fun.

Casting for Web Series

We are casting for a web series to be filmed in Portland Oregon November 15th-23rd. The series is created by Scotty Iseri (Scottygotanofficejob.com) and sponsored by Zendesk (Zendesk.com). We are seeking non-SAG/-AFTRA performers to fill the following roles.

Sophie: Female bartender, aged 27. This is our female lead. Looking for an attractive performer with experience in comedy, clowing, and ideally some combat (there is a fight scene). Would love an ass-kicking personality, Sigourney Weaver crossed with Molly Shannon. Anna Faris with a glass of whiskey in her hand. Comedy chops are key. Hopefully someone who can bring some laughs to an (admittedly) underwritten part.

Jan: Female, 30's-40's. Dowdy and plain, Jan has a soul-sucking office job, though her secret love for her boss goes unrequited. Industrial experience a plus.

Lorem and Ipsorem: Two evil faceless spirits. Age/gender/race undetermined, but think "Ghost of Xmas Future" types. Looking for big voices and physicality, and an ability to play something otherworldly.

Abraxus: A 3rd evil, faceless spirit. Identical in appearance to Lorem and Ipsorem, but essentially a grown-child. Looking for a Ralph Wiggum-type of sense of humor to complement the big voice and physicality of the other two spirits.

Woman in a bar: Mid 20's. Kind of a club-going type, but with a quick wit, and a sharp tongue.

Miscellaneous roles: Looking for comedic talent for 6 other roles. These are day-players, minor speaking roles with one or two days of shooting. Looking for a variety of actors of any age/race/gender. Experience with comedy is preferred (sketch, improv, stand-up).

Waiter/Waitress:

Fast food/food truck vendor.

Bob: A bartender.

3 Office workers

Rehearsal and shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for November 15-23rd. There will be both day and night shoots.

These are paid positions.

Please send headshot and resume and links to reel to
zendeskcasting(at)gmail.com

Please link to reel rather than attaching big files. Big files make Hulk smash.

Please indicate in the subject which role/roles you're submitting for and whether or not you are interested in day player/featured extra roles.

Casting for Viral Video

Hello Actors,

We've got a viral video project, and we need to cast six roles- four males, and two females.

Each role has at least two pages of dialogue, so these are excellent parts. The film itself will be an interactive youtube video, meaning the user can "Choose their own adventure". The client has expressed interest in franchising the most interesting characters for future viral videos if the video gets traction. Although this is a new company, it's a legitimate brand that's making inroads, and could provide excellent exposure to those seeking commercial acting credits.

The target market is 18-25 year-olds who drink energy drinks, so we're searching for a specific look. Shoot dates are Nov. 13 + 14th. Please ensure you can make these dates before sending in your head shots and resume.

As you all know, these posts get a lot of replies. Please don't let that stop you from applying- you may be the exact actor we're looking for! But, also understand that we will only be replying to applicants who are good fit for the roles- this isn't personal, we simply get overrun by applicants. If you don't hear from us, it doesn't mean you're not the bomb, it just means you're not right for this role.

If you'd like to apply, please send us your reel and a recent headshot. Because of the budget, this is only open to non-union actors. There is compensation depending on the role, it's not a lot, but you'll get some coin, a solid commercial credit, some hot food, and a few good friends.
Thanks a lot, guys. We're looking forward to hearing from you!

Casting actors near Olympia for low-budget film

"Henryk" is the story of a young police officer who ventures
dangerously too far into the spell of a hidden convent - to be filmed
this winter in and around Olympia, Wa.

We are looking for three lead actors to portray the following
characters:

Julian Grey - MALE - age 25-30 - A young, determined cop

Rick Simmons - MALE - age 30-40 - A despicable, weasly man with a
dangerous drunken side

Don Bryers - MALE - age 20-30 - A lovable "tough guy"

Though the budget is tight, we offer $50.00, food and transport, and
due credit. If you feel you can fill one or more of these roles, send
whatever you would like to henrykmovie@gmail.com. Recorded monologues
are never, ever a bad idea. We will be filming near the areas of
Hoodsport, Eldon, Olympia, and some Olympic rainforest throughout late
November and December. Specific scheduling will be collaborative with
everyone. On the whole, the story is fairly noir, so bear this in
mind.

Send resumes, headshots, reels, monologues, or just something about
yourself to henrykmovie@gmail.com.

Casting actors (as 2 couples) to perform in a short feature

I’m directing a short-length film, a character piece or drama, that is to be independently produced. I’m looking for actors to perform lead roles in the film, described as follows: A woman, who has just moved in along with her boyfriend, stops by to introduce herself to the couple next door. But their visit is cut short when he interrupts them. As they continue to see each other, the couple becomes concerned about the neighbors’ troubled relationship. They find out later that the woman’s sister has killed herself, leaving them to question why. I see the characters as having these features: the two couples are both in their mid to late 20s, the neighbor woman the youngest.

Webseries in need of Actresses and Extras

Hey all,

I have the actors, now I need the 2 actresses still. No pay but snacks will be available and I am submitting this into at least one film festival (in LA)before it goes online.

I am casting the following roles:
Nurse Alison Frye & Nurse Dawn Sperling, age range 20's-30. I'll take the best actress, but I envision both Nurses spunky , spitfires, fresh faced. Especially Nurse Frye who we see her first day on the job.

There is a kissing scene for Nurse Sperling in the pilot episode, and Nurse Frye gets a love interest about the 4th episode. So there is kissing for both characters.
Extras: Nurses 2age range fairly open, just look like a nurse, lol. Nurses can be male or female.
Orderlies. age range ope again just look like an orderly.

Thanks in advance for your interest.
