Voiceover and possibly acting (E. Portland)

We are developing an on-line health education course. We currently use a computer generated voice, but would like to use a live narrator. Prefer a female.

There may also be an opportunity act in short 5 to 10 minute videos demonstrating various techniques for providing proper care. We would provide scrubs and all equipment.

VO should take about 8 hours or less. Videos have not been scripted as yet, but shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.

We're looking for a volunteer (since this training will initially be free), but would consider any reasonable compensation request.

Compensation: Would like a volunteer, but make me an offer by the job.

Casting Lead Male Role

NW FILM CENTER PROFESSIONAL-STYLE FILM EXPERIENCE!: SHORT TO BE SHOT ON 16MM FILM

HEART is a 20 minute NARRATIVE short film, featuring EXPERIMENTAL elements.

The story is about Jonas and Kenvin Kierkowzki's struggle with their unique neuroses. Each of these brothers has chosen to deal with their involvement with the death of their younger brother in a different and troubling way. The film also addresses their shared boyfriend and this complex relationship.

The project will be directed by the talented team of Stephanie Hough and Taylor Turner. This will be their 7th short film together, and it will be the THESIS PROJECT of Hough's certificate program in film at the NORTHWEST FILM CENTER.

Lead Role
JONAS KIERKOWZKI: 27 - 35 year old male, average build. Jonas suffers from OCD-like neurosis that expresses itself in his obsession with creating minimalism environments in every facet of his life. The strict way in which he lives serves as a means to quell the guilt he feels as a result of witnessing his brother's childhood death. This is a very demanding role--subtle dialog requires that the actor will need to express many of these emotions internally and not be able to rely on situations or dialog to get across these ideas. Film experience required.

This is a "no-budget" film production, so NO monetary compensation can be offered.

Actors will be wonderfully fed, get the experience of a small, organized shoot and have the opportunity to use this film on their reel.

Production will occur in Spring 2012. There will be preparation time required for the actors with some unconventional rehearsing techniques.

Please be prepared to bring a resume with photo, and monologue to perform. Auditions will be
videotaped. They will be held at:

Location: NW Film Center 934 SW Salmon St, Portland, OR
Date: January 25th

Casting call for two film projects in PDX (N. Portland)

We are casting for two projects here in Portland, one is comedic (a paying gig), the other is a character based drama with strong characters (non-paying).

PAYING GIG

A series of humorous shorts centered around a bar, satirizing sitcom conventions while developing an intriguing and complex ensemble of characters. Actors should be experienced in comedy. Several parts available, many with lines, some without. Most of the parts are for people between the ages of 21 and 35, but we will be considering men and women of all ages and backgrounds. This is an ongoing project, and if hired you will be payed per day. Compensation varies from part to part.

NON-PAYING GIG

We are making a character-heavy 40 minute independent short film with a large cast, all speaking parts. This is ideal for people who are only now getting into acting, as we are looking for new faces. The more diverse the cast the better, so we will be considering men and women of all ages and backgrounds. Actors should be able to improvise from provided material, and should be comfortable with themes of infidelity, dishonesty, and heartbreak. Most of the people cast will work one day, and all actors will be given a copy of the film when it is finished, as well as opportunities to interact with the public at screenings, panels, et cetera. The project is an experiment in high-brow low-budget cinema, and will likely be a satisfying and freeing experience for everyone involved.

Please respond to this ad via e.mail, with a current head shot and any applicable experience. Make sure and specify which project you are interested in auditioning for. Auditions will be held Monday, January 23rd in North Portland, from 2:30pm to 5pm. Specific directions will be sent via e.mail.

Actor/Actress wanted - dramatic short film

As part of my immersion into my digital media and film program in school I am putting together a short dramatic piece exploring the subconscious. The piece follows a young man, who loses total consciousness and in his blacked out state encounters a young woman of whom when he regains consciousness believes he has always known her.
The two characters are both in their early 20s. Paul, the male lead, is a clean cut, somewhat intellectual looking young man. The female lead, Daphne, is a rather simple yet attractive young woman with a slight aura of shyness to her character.
No experience necessary.

Actress for Car Comedy Film

I'm a college student, currently majoring in digital media and film, putting together a short film (roughly 15 minutes in length). More a farce than anything else, it's chronicles a woman who falls in love with her car and all the experiences they share together (such as courtship, and yes, even marriage). Very comedic material, and I am looking for an actress to play the leading role. She is approximately 20 years in age and has a very upbeat, perky and almost childish demeanor. No experience required.

Actors Needed for Short Film (Newberg, OR)

We are in need of 6 actors (of high school looking age) for a 25min short student film. The synopsis:
Push the bully holds cruel dominion over the school, earning his respect through fear and deprecation. When new kid John Williams enters the school and challenges his sovereignty, Push must fight to retain not only his power, but also his very identity.

The 6 roles we are searching for are:

Push the bully is not short, nor is he tall. With his smile he could get away with murder. Push is passive aggressive, a bully of the mind and heart. He finds your flaws and makes you painfully aware of them. He is not physically strong, but he is brave.

Eugene Kraft is Push's right hand man. Eugene is afraid of Push, and loves seeing Push bully anybody beside himself.

John Williams is a prince. A hero. He is well-read, well-bred, and well traveled. He is tall, with blond hair just long enough to comb, and steely blue eyes. Williams comes from a rich background, as evidenced by his manner of speech and wide travels. Williams is bully-prepared and makes a splash when he joins the school.

Frank is one of Push's favorite victims. Frank is overweight. And he has a lisp. He knows the drill around Push and takes his bullying dutifully... Until he meets John Williams.

Slud is another of Push's favorite victims. Slud has a disability that requires the use of forearm crutches. Due to Push's derision he sees little potential in himself. That changes when John Williams arrives.

Clob, another of Push's favorites, looks radioactive. Clob has acne. Clob is ugly under his acne. An encounter with Williams changes Clob.

This is a non-paying gig but we will provide meals during long shoot days, a DVD of the film will be provided when it's done and also great seats at the premiere.

We are planning on shooting the weekends of February 10-12, 17-19, 24-26.
Please email me with any questions and to set up an audition for next week. We will be auditioning at the George Fox University Portland Center in Tigard, Oregon.

Liminal is holding auditions for female singers to be a part of a music-theatre-performance installation based on the language of Gertrude Stein. No prepared material is required. This will be a group audition in a workshop format. Please bring one head shot or other photo, and a resume.

Audition date and location:
Monday, January 30, 7-10pm

17 SE 8th

There will be three evening performances, March 22-24. There is no compensation available for this collaborative opportunity.

Casting Call: Independent Feature Film

Lighter People is a comedy/drama about a young man and his relationship with the people around him. While generally serious in tone, the film will have an offbeat, occassionally inappropriate sense of humor. The story follows Aaron and his best friend Zach as they drive to Dawson Creek (no relation) Canada to visit Aaron's long distance girlfriend Brooke.

We're looking for two males and one female between the ages of 21 and 34. No acting experience necessary. We're looking for interesting, passionate people interested in being part of a creative team and being part of the artistic process. Our goal is naturalistic acting and although there is a fully developed script, improvisation will be highly encouraged.

Aaron: Someone who can convincingly control a conversation, and not a passive listener. He is an intelligent person, a talker, generally bright and perceptive, but also frequently lost in his own thoughts. Slightly immature. Has a problem and doesn't know he has a problem which is kind of part of his problem. Secretly attended one Yoga class but never told anyone.

Zach: Less of a talker. Very easy-going. Smart, maybe smarter than Aaron, but in a very down-to-earth way. Avuncular. Plays RPG games. May get drunk and sing along to Bruce Hornsby songs on Pandora though this is pure speculation.

Brooke: Has a good sense of humor. Adventurous, creative, independent, motivated. Not impatient, but has a no-nonsense kind of attitude. Likes to keep moving and having fun, doesn't like wasting time. Has a distaste for the actor Daniel Stern.

Roles are adaptable and those not meeting the descriptions are still encouraged to apply. Due to the improvisational nature and amateur level of the acting, casting two friends/coworkers/bandmates as Aaron and Zach is highly desirable. Though not required, gentlemen who apply together may be given priority.

Publicity and Outreach Volunteers/Interns Needed

BroadArts Theatre is in search of talented and passionate individuals to help us spread the word that our new show Bunkin' With You in the Afterlife by Jody Seay is about to open!

Full of rambunctious fun, this comedy musical play takes square aim at the sometimes touchy subject of religion and spirituality, as well as homosexuality, equality, and women's rights. The musical features Minnie Rhodes, a lesbian minister, and her Many Roads Ministry, Cowgirls for the Lord, who ride around on horseback in the deep green hills of conservative southern Oregon spreading, and singing, the good news - not of having been saved - but, indeed, of never actually having been lost.

We are specifically looking for a Social Media/Publicity Volunteer and an LGBTQ Community Outreach Volunteer. We've been hard at work getting the show up and running and would endlessly appreciate the extra hands and minds of some dedicated volunteers. College credit may be available. I (or perhaps our new volunteer!) will be posting more info soon about the show and how you can get tickets!

Thank you as always!

Seeking stage manager/Tech Deity

Hey Community -

I want to echo Anet's recent comment about the awesomeness of this list-serv. I so appreciate being able to wake up in a panic at 3am because I don't have a stage manager and know there is a place I can go, where they hang off the trees like ripe juicy peaches.

At least, I hope there are a few peaches out there, just waiting to be picked.

I am looking for a cross between a stage manager and a running crew. Basically, I need someone who can run lights and sound for my solo show. (I'm pretty sure it's possible for one person to do both as it isn't a tech heavy show).

The dates are February 10th-26th (a Thursday-Sunday run) with added shows on the 13th and 14th.

I'll want that person to start working with me a few days before-hand, to learn the show and the booth at Theater! Theater!'s Arena Stage (bonus points if you know it already!)

This is a paid position. ($300 for the run).

The show is called GoodGirls'Guide: Dominatrix for Dummies and features some adult content. So...not for the easily offended. (Extra bonus points for the kinky-inclined!) (but not in any way necessary).

Contact me if you are interested.

Thanks everybody - i look forward to seeing many of you around Fertile Ground. Best of luck with all the shows/readings happening this weekend!

Actor Needed for Short Film - with contact info!

Greetings Fellow Actors!

We will be shooting a spec for a short film called, Sway of the Knife, at the end of February. The spec will be used as a teaser on Kickstarter and the short film is an artistic project intended for the festival circuit and world domination. We are casting for the following character:

"Matthew"

Physical Profile: Caucasian male, late twenties-early thirties, average build

Matthew is a charismatic, successful, young business professional with socially liberal but economically conservative politics. He is arrogant but not irretrievably so. A few of Matthew's ostensible qualities are a dry sense of humor, a penchant for telling good stories, wittiness, and an obsession for details of all shapes and sizes.

About the Project

The story revolves around a series of seemingly random, strangely anxious, and, at times, comical encounters between estranged Vietnamese-American brothers whose curious relationship is slowly revealed backwards in time. The inverted chronological structure will be interwoven with a style of lyrical, stream-of-consciousness "documentary" filmmaking that is largely inspired by Chris Marker's Sans Soleil. This bricolage of images is the interstitial space between their encounters and, together with the narrative, the film will be a unique amalgamation of dramatization and documentation that obscures the lines between fact and fiction.

About the Filmmakers

We are crazy and dangerous. Please visit us at www.nomenstatua.com

Compensation

To begin with, you'll be fed well, given a copy for your reel, and have a swell time with some groovy folks. When we shoot the real deal in the summer you'll be paid for your time. Those details are TBD.

The When and Where

Auditions will be scheduled at varying times between the following dates:

Tuesday, 1/24 - Saturday, 1/28
Location: Inner Southeast Portland

Thank you for reading and I look forward to hearing from you!

Best Regards,

Vu Pham

Calling All Pirates, Swashbucklers, Buccaneers and Scallywags (Portland and surrounding areas)

Our interview session has been pushed back in order for us to collect more great applications!

Ace of Ruin Piratical Entertainment is looking for talented swashbucklers to shanghai crews aboard our good ship the Salacia's Favour. Men and women between the ages of 21-35 are welcome to audition for on-call work that will be seeing it's busiest time of year.

This type of entertainment is for both kids and adults, featuring anything from "Follow The Leader" to historically accurate drinking games! Ideally, our future plunderer will have experience working with kids, and is certainly not afraid to command a rowdy group and give them a good adventure. Preferably, the future pirate has their own vehicle, as well as piratical, and most importantly, entertainment experience. Garb will not be provided by the crew, however we will help with any alterations, antiquing or ideas/inspirations. All other equipment, training, scheduling and appointment-making will be handled by the Captain and the Master-at-Arms-- all you need to do is show up to the location after you are debriefed, and collect your earnings.
If you have ever wanted to take a hobby in piracy, this is one venture that will actually pay... it's all about having fun, and more importantly, giving the guest the best damn time they've ever had! Be a part of the Salacia's Favour, and join the fun, rowdy, unique style that makes us one of the best.

We're also looking for men and women to join our recreational crew, and though generally lacking pay, makes up for it in good times (i.e. drinking, singing, fighting) at various events, faires and the like. Far less requirements are needed for THIS position, so if you want to join the piracy, but don't have the professional experience, worry not and send us a missive with your wishes!
