Casting Actors & Actresses For A Kickstarter

CASTING ACTORS & ACTRESSES FOR A KICKSTARTER
International Criminals have captured an elite special agent. A lone female agent goes to rescue him.

We are making a short melodrama-action parody & looking to film a single scene to put on Kickstarter. This is very low budget mini-short. There's no pay other than a copy of the mini-short, free food & some photos of you in costume looking dangerous. If the Kickstarter is successful we will be able to include some form of payment for a longer short & would be interested in using the same actors.

Conrad/Male Lead
The team's leader, conceited, dense & take charge type.
Short to medium length blond or light brown hair
Age: Mid 20s to Mid 30s
Average to tall in height with an average to athletic build

Shana/Female Lead
The team's only female agent, smartest too & hasn't gotten over breaking up with the love of her life.
At least shoulder length hair, preferably red or willing to color. We may have a wig but prefer natural hair.
Age: Early 20s to Early 30s
Average to tall in height with a small to average build

Anna/Supporting Female
Anna is a ruthless, psychotic, sexy librarian-type with a generic European accent.
At least shoulder length black or dark brown hair.
Age: Early 20s to Mid 30s
Average to tall in height with a small to average build

Enemy Guard/Supporting Male
Wears a mask, gets a line and gets killed.
Average to tall in height with an average to athletic build

Kim/Extra Female
Character will later have a bigger part. Here she's an extra at the most. Looking to include her (an Asian) along with the rest of the actors for publicity photos.
Dark Haired
Age: Early 20s to Early 30s
Average to tall in height with a small to average build

Auditions will be held Sunday June 24th. If interested in any of the parts please send an email with the usual photos, physical stats & experience.

Reply to: If interested in any of the parts please send an email to pdxfilm2000@comcast.net with the usual photos, physical stats & experience.

Actors for short video (Portland)

Looking for actors for short video about the two Portland hostels. In need of two guys. Need to be in your early to mid 20s, comfortable being in front of the camera, and saying some short lines. Super great if you have an accent. We want you to look like you are a traveler staying at the hostel. Travelers are coming from mainly Asia and Europe and you need to look the part. These videos are going to be fun and fast paced.

Will need a commitment for a day. Flexible with when this happens to accommodate the people we want to use. Done before the end of July. In return you will get the video, $50.00, and food along the way. I know, not much, but this is being done thru a small grant to help promote the hostels and hosteling in general.

If interested, please send a photo (make them a reasonable size) or two of yourself, contact info, and share where you are from if you like. Also send your availability in June and July.

This ad is being done by the videographer and not the hostels, so please do not contact them directly. I will be in touch with the people we feel will work best for the video. Yes, I have posted a similar ad a week ago. So if you already responded, no need to respond again (this does not mean if you responded I am not interested, just trying to get a bigger pool).

Thank you,
Michael

Male (25-40's) and Female (20's) Actors Needed

I'm helping produce a short film in Portland. Part of our pre production process involves performing what amounts to a dry run of the film to make sure our ideas/shot list stands up. We shoot the film quickly (no lights, skeleton crew etc) with a Canon 5D then edit the footage so we can get a sense of the pacing and to make sure our ideas are communicating. The process is also extremely useful in terms of figuring out how we want to block scenes. This is more than a stand-in part, a performance is required, but I should reiterate that none of this footage will be used in the final film (which isn't even cast yet and isn't scheduled to shoot until mid July). This exercise should take no more than two and a half hours and it's usually pretty fun and relaxed. The location is a coffee shop near the Art Museum. We're hoping to shoot this upcoming weekend (2nd and 3rd of June) but are flexible when it comes to scheduling, so whatever works for the performers works for us. We've made a few films around town, you can check them out at www.mercerlunden.com and my personal site is at www.benmercer.co.uk.

Cheers,
Ben Mercer

Need Staff for Summer Drama Camp

Hello Everyone!

I am looking to fill a couple of positions for our summer camps happening June 18th-June 22nd.

Assistant Director
Monday-Friday, June 18th-22nd 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
The assistant director assists the director in creating a child-centered show with a Grimm's Fairy Tale theme. There are 25 kids signed up for this inventive drama camp that culminates with a darling showcase of pieces that the kids have created. The Director and AD will have a full lesson plan for the camp, including three original Grimm's scripts, but the kids will be making their own sets and costumes. The AD will be primarily responsible for parent communication, overall camp management, leading drama activities and games, and helping to produce the show.
$350 for the week, must be available all days!

Production Manager
Monday-Friday, June 18th-June 22nd, flexible hours
Each production manager will "float" from camp to camp delivering supplies, and assisting with three productions on an "as-needed" basis. In prior years, production managers have procured donated or borrowed items to use in our simple productions, delivered extra snacks/programs, or assisted the directors and AD's on set-building days. There is a small but workable budget for sets/costumes/supplies for each camp. Must have reliable transportation, and be available most hours during that week in case of emergency. Must be available to help check kids in to one of the camps early Monday morning. (8:15 a.m., Monday, June 18th.)
$250/week

** Writers**

Playwrights! Part Time Playhouse can't happen without you. We need scripts, or else it's highlight clips and filler material. If you've seen the show, then you may be able to appreciate what a valuable service it is to the local community of writers. At no cost to you, we provide the television crew and live broadcast to thousands on cable and the internet, through the facilities of MetroEast Community Media.

Here's a list of local writers who've had their scripts performed on Part Time Playhouse:

Francesca Sanders
Sharon Sassone
Blair Vail
Don Teeters
Barbara Genovese
Sandra de Helen
Alex Gagne-Hawes
Katharine Rose
Jeremy Benjamin
Archie Washington

There's no selection committee. I read everything and program the series episodes with an open mind and broad tastes, so send in your play today! No more than 5 actors with simple tech is preferable, and station policy prohibits explicit language and situations during primetime.

Sincerely,

Archie Washington

New Sex-Positive Storytelling Show looking for Storytellers

Hello,

My name is Eric, and I am the producer of a new live storytelling series called The Mystery Box Show. We feature live storytellers sharing true stories of sex and sexuality, unmemorized and in front of a welcoming audience.

We just had our first show in April and we're already planning our next series of shows. I want to get the word out to anyone interested in sex and sexuality; particularly anyone who might have a story to share themselves!

Getting on stage and telling a true story from your life, even for performers who are comfortable performing in front of an audience, can be a new and exciting experience. I figured that at least a few folks in this group would have some intriguing tales just waiting to be told.

If you'd like to learn more about our show, I invite you to visit us at MysteryBoxShow.com. Feel free to get in touch with any thoughts or questions-- we'd love to hear from you.

Thank you for your time.

Cheers!

Actress Needed

We are holding open auditions for a role in a film "Love" which is about the love in all forms of relationships. The role will require around 10 days of filming. Preferably actresses 18 to 24. This is an extremely low budget film so there will be no pay, but the director has a film in international film festivals and fully expects this one to reach international film festivals as well. This will be a great opportunity for exposure. We require an audition for the role so please contact me through email if you are interested in auditioning. Those who audition will be considered for other roles in the film as well.

The Director of this film is very young yet he does have one film at an international film festival as stated above. The script has been edited by many people and they all have said that this could be the directors best film if executed.

2. What areas you are interested in (SM, props design, costume design, etc…) and are you willing to fill more than one position in any given show?
3. What scheduling conflicts might you already know of that would effect which show you would be placed in?

Also, please indicate your first, second and third choice of shows if you are going to be able to participate in only a limited number of productions. We will place you based on your preference, each shows needs and (for some) quality of previous work.

In an attempt to avoid rehearsal and scheduling conflicts down the road, we are assigning designers and SMs now for the entire season so that you will know your production schedule and can plan your year accordingly. Once design teams are finalized we will contact you & distribute production calendars so that you can begin design preparations and work out scheduling issues.

Lastly, please include your updated contact information in your e-mail to Tara. We want to make sure that we have the most
current phone numbers & e-mail addresses for everyone throughout the summer months.

Limited stipend funds are available and will be discussed upon hire. Please respond to Tara by Friday 06/08.

Thank you, and we look forward to working together towards a successful season!

2012-2013
SEASON ANNOUNCEMENT

As we lay to bed each night, our minds unravel layers of our subconscious in dreams. Who am I? Who could I be? What am I made of? What purpose do I have? Then we wake to a world with endless possibilities. Can I turn these dreams into a reality? Will my fears keep me from achieving my heart’s greatest desires?

In our second season, we at Valley Repertory Theatre invite you to explore the universal experience of dreams and how they define us as individuals and as a community. Our 2012-2013 season of live theatrical performances features four journeys of men and women trying to decipher the timeless question of identity through their dreams and nightmares. From those striving for the elusive American Dream, to those whose aspirations devolve into nightmare, come with us as we discover the dreams we’re made of.

The Plays:

A Break in the Clouds: Stories of Newberg
An original play
Directed by Caleb Thurston
September 20-23, 27-30; October 4-7, 2012

Based on true stories told by diverse residents as well as research of local historical figures, this original play brings to life the lives of Newberg’s dreamers, past and present. On what visions was this community built? How does the picture of contemporary Newberg compare to the hopes our founders had for us? The stories of our neighbors promise to surprise and inspire us.
Presented with the collaboration of the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition.

It’s A Wonderful Life
Adapted for the stage by James W. Rodgers
Based on the film by Frank Capra
Directed by Stephen Pick
December 6-9, 13-16, 20-23, 2012

George Bailey’s dreams could take him far away from the small town of Bedford Falls, but his sense of duty has a way of keeping him there. As his ambitions float out of reach, George is finally left one Christmas Eve staring at what he views as a failed life. It will take divine intervention to give George the chance to see what the world would be like if he had never been born. Capra’s unforgettably classic characters are all present in the stage adaptation of this heart-warming, family-friendly tale.

Julius Caesar
By William Shakespeare
Directed by Caleb Thurston
February 28-March 3, March 7-10, 14-17, 2013

Is Caesar a charismatic liberator or an opportunistic dictator? Brutus finds himself trapped between duty to country and loyalty to friend as a political plot devolves into murder. Shakespeare’s tragedy is given a contemporary setting, exploring the cost of ambition and duty that rings true both in the ancient Roman Senate and in the halls of modern Washington D.C.

My Name is Asher Lev
By Aaron Posner
Adapted from the novel by Chaim Potok
Directed by Stephen Pick
May 23-26, May 30-June 2, June 6-9, 2013

Asher Lev could be the next Picasso. But as the son of devout Hassidic Jewish parents who struggle to understand art as God’s work, Asher Lev is torn apart. Yes, he knows he is supposed to honor his parents, but must he not also be true to himself? To his dreams? Asher Lev shares these struggles with us as we glimpse the pieces of his painful past which led to his most famous work and the decision that changed his life forever.

Auditions: Friday, May 25, 2012

This post contains auditions posted on Friday, May 25, 2012.

Keep the chat going.  Let's talk about scams.  With the removal of the Craigslist Adult section, these posts are now filtering through the normal acting audition posts, adding more work to those searching for legitimate work.  Other listservs and audition sites have an approval process to limit the number of scams that slip through.

What red flags are you looking for in determining whether a post is legitimate?  There have been quite a few recent posts where they promise a large sum of "$1,000-2,500" or even "$5,000-7,500" a day for a shoot without memorization, and the catch was that you could not be represented by an agency.  This posed some concerns in my mind.  Let's get a discussion going in the chat box about this topic.  Feel free to share your thoughts or experiences in searching for work, and the tips you have for ensuring work is legitimate.

If you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.
Thanks.

ISO Singing Coach/Director

The current production that I am directing involves singing. I can sing, I do not know if I can bring the best singing out of others.

That being said. I am ISO a singing coach or director that would be able to help my band of undetermined talent to sing their little hearts out during the middle of the show.

All songs are saloon songs from the 1890's nothing should be too difficult, but at the same time, I don't know.

There would be no compensation available at this time. I would love someone to help if possible. A role in the play may be available if that sweetens the pot.

Please reply to this email and let me know.

Thank you for your time.

AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT: Valley Repertory Theatre's "A Break in the Clouds"

Valley Repertory Theatre, Newberg's own professional theatre company, is excited to announce open auditions for its first production of the 2012-2013 season.

Titled A Break in the Clouds: Stories of Newberg, this original play is based on interviews of local people, offering a unique glimpse at local history. Featuring an ensemble of 6-10 actors of various ages and cultural backgrounds, the play will run for three weekends between September 20-October 7, 2012. Rehearsals are slated to begin in late July.

Auditions will take place on two separate Saturdays, June 16 and 23, 3:30-6pm at the Chehalem Cultural Center's Central Stage. No prior experience or preparation is necessary but auditioning actors will be expected to stay for the entire duration of either audition day. Comfortable clothing should be worn.

Due to a generous grant from the Yamhill County Cultural Coalition, performers will receive a small stipend for their work. Actors are highly encouraged to sign-up for an audition date by contacting director Caleb Thurston at 503-369-2936 or calebthurston@valleyrep.org.

Valley Repertory Theatre (VRT) was incorporated in early 2011 as a 501c3 non-profit organization in Newberg, Oregon. Founders Stephen Pick and Caleb Thurston are graduates of George Fox University's theatre program. Having taught and directed for several Portland-area schools and theatres, they felt drawn back to the community where they met and studied together. The company's first production was an original play titled Walk a Mile: Stories of Newberg. It featured the interwoven biographies of seven local people from all walks of life and received overwhelmingly positive response from the community. Its success was followed by three other productions in the inaugural season including the holiday classic A Christmas Carol, Cormac McCarthy's The Sunset Limited, and the Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, Harvey. 2012-2013 will be the company's second season of live theatrical performances.

Auditions: Tuesday, May 22, 2012

This post contains auditions posted on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

I have been on location and have not been able to update the blog as much as I would like.  In addition, there have been a lot of scam/fake audition postings out there recently.  Please always use your best judgement when responding to ads on craigslist and other online resources.

In addition, for those of you who have asked about PCS Generals, to my knowledge, the best way to learn about these is to sign up for their mailing list or call their audition hotline for those equity actors out there.  I know that their generals were not posted on the main websites and listservs I review, so I am unsure of why this was so quiet this season.   These were posted on the PCS Blog.

Please remember that this is a free service I am offering and I do my best to update at minimum once a week.  My goal is to post daily audition notices, and I will continue to strive for this, however, I am a working actor and must pay the bills, so there may be slight delays at times.

If you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.
Thanks.

Miracle Theatre Group, the Northwest’s premier Latino arts and culture organization, announces its 2012-2013 season featuring an exciting line-up of four Miracle MainStage productions, including three world premieres. Miracle Theatre Group’s 2012-2013 season includes:

RAÍZ

An original, bilingual celebration of the Day of the Dead created by Martín Milagro

OCTOBER 18 to NOVEMBER 11, 2012

Every year, the dead are commemorated in Portland’s longest-running Día de los muertos celebration. This year, we unearth the interwoven roots of pre-Hispanic customs and traditions found at the juncture of life and death. Are we but dreaming and awake only when we die? Through music, dance and legend, we explore that thin veil that separates our world from the realm of our indigenous ancestors.

A riotous tragicomedy adapted from Fernando de Rojas’ classic Spanish Golden Age novel

FEBRUARY 7 to MARCH 2, 2013

Presented in Spanish with easy-to-follow supertitles in English

In this bigger-than-life comedy, Calisto is a young and impulsive nobleman who's fallen madly in love with Melibea, the daughter of a rich businessman. But to win her over, the lovesick Calisto resorts to the less-than-pure magic of La Celestina, a bawdy sorceress whose scheming touches off a string of events with startling consequences. Dressed in Golden Age finery, this seriously funny critique of human nature remains as potent today as when it launched Spain’s literary renaissance in 1499.

actress needed for short comedy (portland)

we are looking for an fun loving actress 21-30 who can play in a silly role in our gross-out short comedy about the renaissance. The scene is pretty simple, our hero is trotting past an attractive girl wearing a corset who is squirming on the sidewalk. After suddenly sneezing her corset rips exposing she is pregnant and in labor. in attempt to help her give birth, she instead accidentally cracks a noisy flatulent!

Its a super stupid movie, but its going to be hilarious. All you need to do is act like a typical 1600 wench (accent if you can), and be able to rock a corset. If your pregnant already that is a bonus, but of course not needed.
if you are up for it, send us your resume and a headshot/bodyshot.

many thanks!

Actors for two short videos (Portland)

Looking for actors for two short videos about Portland and the two hostels here. In need of three guys and one woman. Need to be in your early 20s, comfortable being in front of the camera, and saying some short lines. Super great if you have an accent. We want you to look like you are a traveler staying at the hostel and out enjoying Portland. Travelers are coming from all over the world and we are looking for that kind of ethnicity. These videos are going to be fun and fast paced.

Will need a commitment for a day. Flexible with when this happens to accommodate the people we want to use. Done before the end of June. In return you will get the video, $50.00, and food along the way. I know, not much, but this is being done thru a small grant to help promote the hostels and hosteling in general.

If interested, please send a photo or two of yourself, contact info, and share where you are from if you like. Also send your availability in June.

This ad is being done by the videographer and not the hostels, so please do not contact them directly. I will be in touch with the people we feel will work best for the two videos.

Thank you,
Michael
