Comedy
Full Length

2 men, 6 women: 8 total

THE STORY: Hilarity abounds when the feisty females of Eden Falls, Georgia, decide to shake up their lives. The action in this rollicking Southern comedy takes place in SPA-DEE-DAH!, the abandoned church-turned-day-spa where this group of friends gathers every Friday afternoon. After the loss of a dear friend, the women realize time is precious, and if they're going to change their lives and achieve their dreams, they have to get on it now! But Sugar Lee, their high-spirited, determined leader, has her hands full keeping the women motivated. Carlene's given up on romance, having buried three husbands. Nita's a nervous wreck from running interference between her problematic son and his probation officer. Mavis' marriage is so stagnant she's wondering how she can fake her own death to get out of it. And sweet, simple Crystal entertains them all, singing Christmas carols with her own hilarious lyrics. The comic tension mounts when a sexy ex-boyfriend shows up unexpectedly, a marriage proposal comes from an unlikely suitor and Sugar Lee's archrival vows she'll stop at nothing to steal the spa away from her. By the time the women rally together to overcome these obstacles and launch their new, improved lives, you've got a side-splitting, joyful comedy that will make you laugh out loud and shout "Hallelujah!"

Short film holding auditions (NW PORTLAND)

We are preparing to hold auditions for an upcoming short film January 8th in NW Portland. We are casting for four roles read the breakdowns below.

Colt
Male
Early 40’s
– Colt is the type of Character that everyone loves to hate, a classic anti-hero. He is 40 years old and a womanizer that lies and cheats whenever he can to get ahead. Colt’s a little overweight and he wears cheap suits and his stomach hangs out in-between the buttons. As far as Colt is concerned he is Gods gift to woman. He is arrogant, egocentric and often uses his own friends to get what he wants.

Rich
Male
Mid 30’s Late 20’s
– Colts only friend an overall nice guy. Rich is in a tough financial situation. Rich is in his 30’s and he is usually dressed pretty well in a collard shirt and a pair of slacks.

Wife / Donna
Woman
Late 30’s
– Colt’s wife is an attractive woman in her mid to late 30’s. There is a disconnection between her and Colt. She never looks him in the eye and always holds a face of disgust towards him. When she talks to him it is quick and to the point. As far as she is concerned they are finished way before she gives him the divorce papers.

Man / Unnamed
Male
Late 20’s to early 30’s
– The Man is in his late 20’s; he is handsome and dresses very well, mostly in black. Even though his face isn’t really seen until the last couple scenes he is an important character to show that him and Colt’s wife possibly have some kind of love interest.

This will be a no pay job, but there will be meals provided. This film will be sent out to the film festival circuit once completed in June.

Looking for Actors/Dancers, shooting a Film this Tues, Wed, Thurs. (Portland)

Hi,

We're shooting a series of short films on a beautiful old movie film stock that is soon to go away forever.
We've been out on the open road for the last 3 months, shooting vignettes, blending stories with fact
and fiction, working with local actors and some of our own.... letting each town and its people shape
the story we tell. Has been some kind of journey. Portland is the location for the next 3 days.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR ACTORS/DANCERS/ENTERTAINERS of any stripe who are used to
creating in an improv style. Those who can riff on an idea and take it wherever it may lead.... Tonight we
are shooting a stop motion film down on Hawthorne, and on Tues./Wed./Thurs. we hope to shoot a dance
number and one other live action short. Looking for all types of folks, though leaning towards dancers and
female models (shooting mainly on silent film). If any of this strikes you right and you are available Tuesday,
Wednesday, or Thursday please respond to this ad with photos (or links to a video of yourself), your name
and a number to reach you. And write us a few words describing your work, talents...

We will review your responses and give more info, including a link to the movie's website, press, and
how to get in contact. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Thank you.

“Bus Stop” is “a composite picture of varying kinds of love, ranging from the innocent to the depraved” – Inge’s own words. It is a drama, with romantic and some comedic elements. The play is set in a diner about 30 miles west of Kansas City in early March, 1955. A freak snowstorm has halted the progress of the bus, and the eight characters (only five were in the bus) have a weather-enforced layover in the diner from approximately 1 to 5 a.m. Romantic or quasi-romantic relationships ensue between Grace and Carl; Professor Lyman and Elma; Cherie and Bo; and (implied) Virgil and Bo. Will is the older authority figure outside the relationships. The film version starring Marilyn Monroe was only very loosely based on this stage version.

Limited Roles Still Available in "The Serpent"

We're still looking for actors to take part in Tribute Theatre's production of "The Serpent". Auditions will be scheduled, please email tributetheatre@gmail.com for more information or to schedule a time.

Previous Post:

All levels of acting/dancing/movement experience are encouraged to audition!

Tribute Theatre is opening it's doors with Jean Claude Van Itallie's "The Serpent."

This play is a movement based play, focusing on the book of Genesis and the assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King Jr. Adam and Eve ate the fruit, gained the knowledge of good and evil and were cast out into the world to suffer pain, childbirth and death. We remember the negative of this transaction, but what of their profit? They (and the subsequent following human race) lost their innocence and ignorance and gained knowledge of the hardships of the world, but also the wonders of it.

This play will be approached non-denominationally, and is meant to explore danger going hand in hand with enlightenment. Rehearsals will take place January 4th through February 10th, with productions being performed the 11th, 12th and 13th.

This project is self-funded, and actors will not be payed, but you'll get to work with lots of awesome people and take part in a truly exciting show!

It is 1955. B is a black jazz musician so renowned and innovative that heonly needs a single initial to identifyhim. We join him as he shows up unannounced to spend a fateful weekend in the apartmentof Baroness Alexandra Isabella von Templeton (Xan), one of the world's richestwomen. His manner and his mood shifts are as mercurial as his music. His talentat deception and self defense as agile ashis ability to charm. Questions of loyalty, love, privilege, and friendship areprobed as the ghosts of B's past and present demand answers. Xan vows toprotect him at all costs, even if it means ignoring the advice of the doctorsummoned to attend to him. Does B want to be saved? Can he be? Has he come torecuperate from recent disastrous events in order to soar into the world again,or has the burden of being a cutting edge spirit in the war against conformity and racial prejudice taken itsultimate toll?

SEEKING THE FOLLOWING CHARACTERS:

[B] Black male. 40-60 years old. Innovative jazz musician. Ravished by drugs. Awince of pain accompanied by a groan may be substituted for his cough.

[KIDWELPOOL] Black male, 30-35 years old. Jazz pianist. He has had electro shock treatments. We are never sure of Kid’s demeanor. Is it taciturn, cool, brooding, or some deeper psychosis? His silences are like monologues. After the 1st Movement he existsonly in B’s mind. Hisappearances/entrances & disappearances/ exits should reflect this.

[MOTHER] Black female. 60-70 years old. B’s Mother. Humbled, supportive and unpretentious, yet a bit smoothing. She is in B's memory and appears distinctly and less so at various times.

[CHIM] White female. Early 30s. Wife of B who he considers to be the hippest white woman that he has met. She is also in B's memory and appears the same as the Mother.
