Opera Theater Oregon looking for extras

OTO is looking for about 15 extras for a barn dance sequence being filmed this Saturday, 11/13 downtown (obviously, our barn is an imposter) from 9am to 1pm.

There's no monetary compensation, but we will have free catered lunch for the group, and I can guarantee the finish time.

This footage will be shown on the big screen at Alberta Rose Theatre for six shows in February 2011 as part of Opera Theater Oregon's 'Out of Eden,' an adaptation of Jules Massenet's 'Werther' done in the style of classic 1950s Hollywood melodramas.

You don't have to be able to sing at all, or even dance particularly well (this is supposed to be just plain folks at a party).

Contact me if interested.

Auditions for Trailing Colors with The Other Shoe Productions

The Other Shoe Productions will be holding auditions at the end of the month for Trailing Colors, written by Gretchen Icenogle and directed by JoAnn Johnson.

Rehearsals will begin in the last week of March 2011, times TBD. The show will open at The Headwaters May 5 and close May 29, with performances Thurs-Sat at 8 p.m. and Sun matinees at 2 p.m. Each actor cast will receive a $200 stipend.

Trailing Colors opens in the late summer of 1994; it is set in the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. The play's characters, victims and would-be saviors, struggle to reinvent their sense of humanity in terms that are not fatally cynical. Paradoxically and sometimes disastrously, they depend on each other for whatever they can salvage of their own strength.

Characters (in order of appearance):

David 25-45, M. A zoo keeper, white, American. Not just nice.

Will 25-40, M. A surgical resident, black, American. Until recently, everything his name would suggest.
Cinzia 25-40, F. An internist, white, Italian-Swiss. Mistress of life's absurdities.

Leah 25-35, F. A journalist, white, American. Full of good intentions.

Rose 35-60, F. A farmer and storekeeper, black, Rwandan. Curses her own soft heart.

Marie-Claire 25-35, F. A farmer, black, Rwandan. Forced to abdicate her power.

Auditions are open to all but require an r.s.v.p. They will be held on Monday November 29th from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturday December 4th from 11:30 a.m to 2:30 p.m.

Interested actors should visit and follow the link on the left that reads "Info for Actors."
