Need a male African-American actor (30's-40's) for a new play reading (10/17)

Hello everybody,

Portland Theatre Works (http://www.ptwks.org) is hosting a reading of Scott Wheeler's new play, Us, on Monday, October 17th. Unfortunately, one of our actors had to withdraw at the last minute, so we are seeking a replacement ASAP. We need a reader for Corey, an African-American man in his early 40's. I'm willing to be somewhat flexible with age, so if you have any doubts about whether or not you might fit the role, please do contact me and we can talk from there.

The reading will take place at 7 pm on the Profile Stage at Theater!Theatre! (3430 SE Belmont). It's unrehearsed, so the commitment will just be for that evening. We do ask our actors to donate their time.

Thank you,

Andrew Wardenaar
Literary Manager

Portlands Original haunted maze seeking actors (Sauvie Island)

The original haunted maze on sauvie island is searching for a few more actors to fill in some open slots. We have a Louisiana Bayou/voodoo swamp zombie theme attraction this year so we're looking for zombies of all shapes and sizes, actors to play southern swamp folk, and voodoo/hoodoo tribal people. This is one of the only large scale haunted attractions that pays its actors!! That's right, you get to dress up in costumes with makeup, scare people all night, and get paid to do it.

This is a really fun job but we take it seriously and need to keep things fun, safe, and family friendly. This is an outdoor haunt in a corn maze, which means as actors you will be exposed to all kinds of wonderful Oregon weather for the month of October. This could be a good thing, or a bad thing but we ask that our actors come prepared to stay in character, and commit to putting on a good show regardless of weather. The haunted house runs October 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 26-31. (7pm--10pm) Call time will be at 5:00 though to give the whole cast plenty of time to get into costume and makeup.

Auditions will be held on this Thursday, October 13th at 7:00 PM at The Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island 16511 Northwest Gillihan Road, Portland, OR. It will be the second maze you see if you're following the directions, the first being Bella Organic Farm and that is not a haunted maze.

This is a super laid back audition, no need to prepare anything or have prior experience. Just come wearing clothes you're comfortable in and be ready to play some games and think on your feet.

Email with questions that weren't addressed here. Thank you, and we hope to see you there!

Singer needed for rock opera (Portland/Gresham)

Needed: male singer, roughly between ages 30-45 to play the lead in an original rock opera broadcast on live TV.

The production will premier on Portland public access Sunday 12/4 (studio in Gresham). Band rehearsals in Portland to start ASAP. If this goes well, there will be an additional live production in Portland-proper this winter.

You would need to learn 7 songs by December. I have demo recordings but not sheet music. The part is written for a high tenor, but I am amenable to you reworking it for a different range if necessary. There is a small amount of acting required, but the right sort of stage presence would do - acting experience would be great, but not a must. Alternately, I would also consider someone whose skill set is more acting than singing, but who can sing passably.

Please include in your email response a recording or link to you singing something.
