Auditions: Wednesday, June 1, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.

This week's topic of discussion is quick and simple. What
sets Portland apart from other cities? How do you think the Portland film and acting community is different from LA, Seattle, New York, and Chicago?

Give some feedback in the chat box on what you think makes Portland unique.

As always, if you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

First Group Meeting for Northwest Actors, Writers and Directors

Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 7:30 PM
Bagdad Theater & Pub - 3702 Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard

This Meetup will take place in the upper-story Kimball Room at the Backstage Bar, part of the Bagdad complex just south of Hawthorne Blvd on 37th Avenue.

Sign up for the group and reserve at: http://www.meetup.com/nwawdg

The goal of this workshop is to bring together any interested people in the Portland area who have worked in theatre or film, or otherwise have a special aptitude for it, in a fluid, creative process to develop new ideas and projects. The central idea is to get actors, writers and directors together to socialize and meet each other, and from that, scenes can be written or improvised and narratives created.

The organizers of this group hope to achieve creative spark and innovation through this group, bringing together disparate writers, directors and actors to meet each other and, we hope, establish bonds that can lead to fruitful collaborations and perhaps the creation of new projects.

For more information and to join the group visit: http://www.meetup.com/nwawdg

Actors who love new work needed.

Once again my playwriting students will be having their new plays read at the last class on Tuesday, June 21st.

If you’re an actor who would like to help new playwrights bring their work to the stage (and you’re free that day) let me know.

Right now the plays are still evolving so I don’t know exactly how many men/women are needed. But everyone who can be used will be.

Shoot me an e-mail at:

francescawrites@comcast.net

Looking forward to it!

indie film seeks actors (July weekends)

I found some really great theater actors for my first film. I would like to repeat it for the second. This is a low-budget coming-of-age musical (but no singing / lip-syncing required for these parts). The parts pay, but don't expect to get rich. This is not a SAG production.

Filming will take place on July 9/10, 16/17, 23/24. If necessary and people available 2/3 or 30/31.
The days are just dates. The part could be for the entire day or just part of it. Roles in order of time commitment.

Rain, 20-30 years (woman) punk rock influenced guitar player (16 and 23rd for sure, plus 3 to 4 other days). If you play the guitar for real, even better.

Melody, 25-35 years (woman) music teacher (16 and 23rd for sure, plus 2 to 3 other).

Alex, 25-30 years (man) screamer/singer, villain (16th/23rd for sure, plus 2 others).

Milo, 20-25 years (man) drummer, nice, heroine's boyfriend (16th/23rd for sure, plus 2 others).

Dustin, 25-40 (man) guitar/bass player, if you really play, even better. (16th for sure, plus 2 others).

Smaller roles also available. Extra crew always needed. Script on request. Headshots/resumes/availability. I might hold auditions June 11th if needed.
