Auditions: Thursday, June 2, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Thursday, June 2, 2011.

This week's topic of discussion is quick and simple. What
sets Portland apart from other cities? How do you think the Portland film and acting community is different from LA, Seattle, New York, and Chicago?

Give some feedback in the chat box on what you think makes Portland unique.

As always, if you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

need male actors

Hi-

We had about 20 guys do screentest shoots about 6 months ago and my clients have used over half of them and would like to see some new faces.

We are looking for males, late 20s to early 40s, to do videos like these:

http://www.screencast.com/t/jCY05fxTNgS

http://www.screencast.com/t/UOlNQqx8UY

http://www.screencast.com/t/QMBcb53ll

We'll choose a group and do short (3 minute) screentests which I will give to my clients to choose from. We pay $50 for the screentest, then the actual shoots pay around $300 for an hour or so. My studio is in Oregon City and you just read from a teleprompter for the screentest.

Thanks!

Now we are going to shoot some short videos (2-3 minutes) with this guy in a restaurant, playing pool, in a jewelry store, driving a Range Rover, etc. and we want him to have a beautiful female companion with him.

We will be choosing someone very soon as we'd like to shoot these by next week. There are no speaking lines, you'll just be in the shot having a nice time. We will pay $250 for a half day of shooting. The shoots will be around Bridgeport Village and Oregon City. Thanks!

CALL FOR SCRIPTS

Playwrights and Directors! Invite some actors to try out your scripts on PART TIME PLAYHOUSE.

At no cost, PTP provides the stage, crew, lights, sound, and live broadcast to thousands on television and the internet. If you'd like a studio audience, bring one.

Prepare for feedback. We prefer original, unproduced plays that are implicit over graphic, inspiring not didactic, and may excite, surprise, amuse, confuse, or challenge.

PART TIME PLAYHOUSE exists to present original theatrical works-in-progress, and to provide writers with feedback on their scripts, in studio and online.

Works of 10-45 minutes in length are performed live on a television studio stage, with a brief Q & A at the end. Excerpts from full-length plays are welcome. Each episode runs for 1 hour.

Find PART TIME PLAYHOUSE on Facebook, and send all scripts and inquiries to Archie Washington, the producer and director of the monthly series. Shows with 6 or fewer actors will be favored, as will those with simple technical requirements. Think of a cold or rehearsed reading, on or off book, with whatever props, costumes, makeup, hair, and cues you'd like to add. Writers of selected scripts will receive production packets.

DEADLINE FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS IS FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH AT 11:59 PM. There are only three episodes in the winter season, which begins October 2011. Playwrights must be present in the studio during the show, and there is no limit on the number of submissions from the same author.

Have your show ready to go, and we'll put it on the air!

Seeking Assistant Directors/Production Managers for Summer Camps!

Hi Everyone!

I have found most of my staff for our summer programs, but I have a few positions still open. To apply, read this entire posting, then send a resume and cover letter to Janea at info@theyoungplayers.com

Every year, The Young Players runs a handful of camps in select schools during which 22-30 kids work together to put on a "play." Every Director is free to choose the theme/project they want to do with the kids. Some things Director's have chosen in the past include: An Afternoon with Shel Silverstein; Monsters and Nightmares; A Pirate's Tale; One Monster After Another; Abbreviated Shakespeare and more. The camp day consists of a variety of activities including warm-up games, skill building activities, rehearsals, set and costume building, snack, quiet time and free play. The goal is to engage kids in cooperative play that yields a positive experience of performing.

For each camp, there is a Director, Assistant Director, Production Manager (part-time) and an Intern.

I have several Assistant Director and Production Manager positions open, and an unlimited number of opportunities for (unpaid) interns.

Please let me know if you are interested in applying right away, and if you will be able to attend a PRELIMINARY SUMMER CAMP MEETING on Monday, June 13th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. (details below). Be sure to indicate which camp location(s) you would prefer, although I cannot guarantee placement.

--emails a cast list and all program information no later than Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m.
--sends a written update home via email to parents every night of the camp (can be done during camp time from Blackberry or other mobile device)

Compensation: $330

Production Manager Job Description:
--provides set/costume and other production assistance for two shows-floats between the two schools
--secures items such as paint, cardboard, various props, etc. (has a small budget of $200 per show, so ideally, this person is resourceful and can procure some items for free)
--must have reliable transportation that can accommodate large pieces of cardboard or light furniture
--needs to be available and on-call for show-related emergencies such as delivering last-minute programs, etc..
--the production manager would work about ten hours on each show at the most, for a total of 20 hours for the week.

Compensation: $300
