Murder Mystery Facilitator needed for Monday, Nov 7 - $250 pay
Hi everyone!
I have a colleague at work that's hosting a dinner for his employees on Monday night, Nov.6. He'd like to have a murder mystery be a part of the evening but needs a facilitator/organizer for it. Short notice? Ya. But then again it's $250 for a two-hour gig - so there's that.
He doesn't have a written piece but is willing to buy one if he needs to. Here's what I can tell you:
Date: Monday, November 7
Time: 6pm, at a house up in the West Hills area
Running time: approximately 2 hours, during dinner
# of participants: 10-12
What you'll need to do:
design the murder mystery or recommend one for purchase (or if you have one in your back pocket, even better)
bring associated props
Have some fun
That's really all I know at this point. If this interests you at all, let me know and I'll get you in touch with the organizer.
Thanks,
Allison Anderson

Actor needed ASAP for staged reading!

Seeking an immediate replacement for an actor in a staged reading (note: this is a non-paying gig); the role is "Mazan" - male, 20's/30's. The play is "Jerusalem Story" by Portland playwright Sharon Sassone; it's an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, set within the modern-day Isreal-Pallestine conflict. Mazan (the character we're casting for) is the Palestinian equivalent of Mercutio; a good friend to Mohammad (the Romeo-equivalent) with a crass sense of humor. The reading will be videotaped in a studio for a cable-access show. The taping takes place on November 6th from 4pm to 9pm. We've already completed all of our scheduled rehearsals, and we've just had an actor back out at the last minute. I would like to schedule an on-the-fly rehearsal (around your availability) or two this week to get you up to speed, and to acquaint you with the cast.
Thanks!
Sincerely,
Jeremy Benjamin

Casting Call: 1 African American Male, 1 Caucasian Male

Valley Repertory Theatre is seeking two experienced actors: 1 African American male (age range 20-60), 1 Caucasian male (30-50) to play the roles of "Black" and "White" in The Sunset Limited, by Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, Cormac McCarthy (The Road, No Country for Old Men). This intimate, thought-stirring, and powerful 2-man play was first produced by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago and New York following its publishing in 2006.

ABOUT THE PLAY

On a subway platform in New York, a well-meaning ex-convict interrupts the suicide attempt of an intellectual cynic and strains to convince the man his life is worth saving. Locked in philosophical and theological debate, the two men bare beliefs and doubts. But are mere words enough to change the disillusioned professor's conviction? And if he goes through with his plan, will the faith of his self-appointed rescuer be damaged beyond repair?
