Auditions: Tuesday, January 22, 2013

This post contains auditions posted on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.

I have had a lot of requests lately to announce who I am as the head of this blog.  To clear up rumors, this is not David St. John (or anyone from  L'eschelon Models or America's Print Models), Barrie Wild, or Jonni Armani.  I do wish to remain anonymous because not everyone sees what I am doing as positive.  I am a local actor who just wants others to find work in this small community.

I am glad that this blog is a helpful and reliable resource for those in the PDX community, and it is great to know people are booking work from using this blog.

Thanks for visiting and supporting this blog.

**Disclaimer:  Please use your best judgement when responding to audition posts.  PDX Auditions compiles auditions from various resources, including Craigslist, and cannot be held liable for the content of these pages or the legitimacy of these auditions.  We do our best to post only legitimate auditions, but user discretion is advised.**

**Paid Projects**

Looking for Actor or Actress Singer

Looking for someone to fill in for two small, yet vital roles in an up coming festival production.

I'm looking for talent over gender. The men have had their chance at these roles, it is time to give the ladies their due.

These are male roles. You have to be able to rein in the girls and play a guy for the duration of the two hour show.

Malcolm is the straight man in a comic scene. HR is a hot to trot character in another comic scene. These are fun roles!

There are four songs, so it would be nice if you can sing as well. However, at this point, so long as you can act, you will be considered!
This is a reading, you will have your script before you.

Must be able to commit to rehearsal January 27th, 2 to 5 pm and the show February 3rd. Noonish to 3 pm.

There is a small stipend.

Wanted: Portland TOUR GUIDES where you will be performing as your job

Original Post Date:  2013-01-12

You already love Portland, but do you have strong people skills, a motor mouth and wit to boot? Do people think you've had three cups of coffee already, when you haven't even had your first sip of the day? If so, then this is a dream job for passionate people like you.

Portland Walking Tours is an established and growing company that's been around over a decade and runs daily tours with over 40 events per week (not including dozens of private events) from April through November and 15+ per week the rest of the year. We now have a few rare available positions that are on-call and part-time work. Since we run morning, afternoon, and evening events, you may work irregular hours and will not have a fixed schedule for a while. Most of us consider this as a supplement our income since it's not a full-time gig. Before you read further and apply, learn more about what we do by checking out the Portland Walking Tours website or our sister companies Hometown Advantage and Run Brain Run.

We do all the training and get you up to speed on your missing knowledge of the city. Like all of us, once you're leading tours, you'll seriously be amazed that you're getting paid for doing something so ridiculously fun. So, if you think you have the improv and leadership skills needed, then read on and apply before the audition slots are filled...

POSITION: Resident Expert (aka Tour Guide).

AUDITIONS: February 2, 3, 9 & 10 (which are Saturdays and Sundays).

CALLBACKS: Immediately thereafter.

REHEARSALS: Multiple days on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in February & March.

PAY: Once hired, starts at $10/hour. That may seem ordinary at first, but tips/gratuities will often triple that amount so it's not uncommon that most of us make about $100/day.

To get an audition slot, send a single email with the following info to careers@portlandwalkingtours.com:
1. A cover letter with a paragraph or two of why you would rock this job. Extra points if you include a link showing you on video displaying your very high energy levels.
2. Full and current resume. If you have acting resume, please include that too.
3. Recent headshot photo (does not need to be professionally taken).
4. Two preference for a morning or afternoon audition on February 2nd, 3rd, 9th or 10th.

If you do not supply these four (4) things, you will not be considered. If you are not available for the days of auditions, callbacks, or the weekend rehearsals, please do not apply.

A. If we see a good fit, we promise that we will email you with information for your audition date/time/location, what you will have to do at the audition, and more details on rehearsals & eventual employment.
B. Callbacks/interviews, if appropriate.

Please do not call.

This position requires you to own a mobile phone and have desktop/laptop-based high-speed Internet access in your home and check your email at least once per day. If you do not have a cell phone and daily Internet access at home, please do not apply.

This is a part-time and on-call position and not full-time. This is a W-2 employee position (not a contractor or internship) and you must be at least 18 years old and eligible for employment in U.S. Do not hit reply to this job posting as it goes to the incorrect email address.

Our ideal Resident Expert is:
* Enthusiastic when speaking in front of groups, calm under pressure and always witty.
* Self directed, a quick learner, and has a strong work ethic.
* Highly organized and dependable.
• A team player that knows that over-communicating is always appreciated.
* Experienced in improv, acting or performance.
* Pays attention to detail (like this request that the word "chugger" is in your cover letter somehow).
* Proficient in computers (since your assignments and timesheet are online).
* College Graduate a plus.
* Able to use Facebook on their phone a plus.
* Lives near downtown a plus.
* Vehicle owner a plus.

Attention Dancers!

Paint Dance Company is holding auditions for the 2013 season on February 9th from 2:00 to 6:00 pm @ Vega Dance+Lab. Please come prepared with a 30-60 second combo and ready to learn/perform 1-3 different combos taught by our company members.

A little bit about us: We are a small company started within the last year by members of an already established dance community here in SE Portland. As artists, we wanted to start exploring our own choreography and spend more of our time doing what we love. Our members are passionate, kind, hilarious, and above all friends. We enjoy each others' company and would love to open our arms to new members to grow with/ be friends with. Our style tethers between hip hip, lyrical, and contemporary. Musicality is a must. Attendance to our local dance studio is encouraged but not required (because they've been so good to us, we like to support!)

We generally have 1-2 performances a month at various clubs, events, and fundraisers. Rehearsals are Saturday from 3-6. No dues required. Just badassery. <--- that's a word now.

Actor needed for male lead in short film

Original Post Date:  2013-01-15
Hi there. I'm an aspiring filmmaker and am casting for my first major project (possibly feature length). It is a critical drama that's pretty dialogue heavy, so I'm in need of actors with some solid experience. I don't need to see a lengthy filmography, but a some past film work would be nice. This is pretty low-budget, all out of pocket, so while I can't guarantee that this will be a paid gig, if I have the funds, I'll definitely pay. I actually have two big roles to fill, one more supportive than the other but still with a lot of screen time (both young adults18-25ish). If you are interested then email me a head shot and I will send you an excerpt of the short story version. Please leave either a number, email, or a facebook link because for some reason I've been having trouble responding to the emails. I live in Newberg but have no problem traveling to Portland to meet up with you if you'd like to do a reading.

40 year old actor needed

Original Post Date:  2013-01-16
Sandy Actors Theatre is looking for an actor to play Giles Ralston (40 year old male -- co-proprietor of Monkswell Manor) in their production of Agatha Christie's Mousetrap. Auditions will be held Saturday, January 26th at 10:00am at the theater, in Sandy

Auditions will be cold readings from the scripts. However, headshots, resumes, and/or monologues are welcome, but not required. (If you have a prepared monologue, you will be given the opportunity to share it as an additional basis for consideration.) All are welcome and no experience is necessary.

Rehearsals will start mid-February. Production dates are April 5th-28 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday Matinee)

At Monkswell Manor, the news on the radio reports that a murder has recently taken place in London. Mollie and Giles Ralston, the owners of the once-regal estate recently converted into a guesthouse, hardly notice the news. They are far too busy preparing for the arrival of their first guests and concerned that the heavy snowfalls may prevent the guests reaching their destination. As the guests arrive safely and the Manor becomes snowed in, a policeman arrives on skis suspecting
that one of the seven occupants may be the killer.

Suspects include the young married couple, a spinster with a curious background, an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef, a retired army major, and an unexpected visitor who claims his car has run into a snowdrift. During his interrogation, Sergeant Trotter uncovers the many mysterious secrets of everyone present, as he tries to solve the murder in true Christie style.

Extras needed for a scene in a short film slated to be shot on February 5th, 2013 from 5pm-10pm.

The scene will involve a group of young women and men waiting outside of a venue to get an autograph from a female pop singer. They will attempt to crowd around her and be held back by her body guards as she gets into her limo.

The scene will be shot outside of The Montage under the Morrison bridge.

I am looking to cast men and women between the ages of 18 and 35 for these roles.

I am also looking to cast an actor to play one of her Body Guards. For this part I am looking for someone between the ages of 25 and 50 and I am open to casting a woman for this role

Here is some information about the film.

SYNOPSIS: The Second Coming is a dark love story about an escort who is trying to get out of the business who falls in love with a schizophrenic who thinks he is the Second Coming of Christ. It is a modern day version of the Jesus and Mary Magdelene story meets the film True Romance, which follows the heroes journey but takes the viewer into the twisted minds of the characters through surreal imagery and dreamscapes.

Please email me a little about yourself, a photo, and any acting experience you may have.

This is a no budget production with only minimal funds to pay for food, rentals, props, and permits.
Nobody is getting paid and everyone involved is doing this because they, like myself are artists and want more experience and footage for their reel.

What I can offer is that you are well fed, respected, credited, have a beautiful piece for your reel, multiple invitations to screenings, and some great experience for your future career as an actor.

Please feel free to view a trailer of my last film to see if this the kinda production you would like to participate in.

Actress for documentary project

Original Post Date:  2013-01-08

Need an actress looking to add something to her reel. I will need about 4-8 hours of your time filming in one day.

Brown/black hair and eyes
Curly hair a plus.

You'll be playing off recorded phone calls and answering questions.

The phone calls will give you an idea of exactly who this person is that I want you to act out.

You'll be playing a dysfunctional mother who is completely oblivious to it.

Please email a photo and anything you'd like to say about yourself. I will call you in for an interview.

Thank you.

Collective Eye, Inc. the non-profit production & distribution organization behind the grass-roots hit documentaries "The Real Dirt on Farmer John" and "Queen of the Sun: What are the Bees Telling Us?" is seeking a personable, passionate, self-motivated and organized production intern for our documentary feature "SEED: The Untold Story". SEED will investigate the dramatic story of seeds, the basis of life on Earth, and is currently in production. Internship is an unpaid position. Internship hours are flexible but at least 12 hours per week is desired

Collective Eye Films is based in SE Portland and has been producing and distributing documentaries for over 5 years. Our internship position is one of the few in town that will give you hands-on experience working on a documentary feature-film production that will go on to see wide distribution and theatrical release. This is not a production internship where you will find yourself in production assistant positions (e.g. running bottled water to people), nor is it a typical production position where you will be setting up dolly's, and jibs. Instead, it will give you experience working behind the scenes, where documentaries are truly made, in an office where creative juices are flowing, research is being done, and people are processing and organizing footage and developing a compelling story out of real-world experiences.

Past productions Queen of the Sun and Real Dirt on Farmer John were multi-award winning films with robust festival runs, U.S. and international theatrical release and broad community screening campaigns.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about the environment and will be dedicated to assist us through the production and post-production phases of the film. This internship is a great experience if you seek further work in the fields of documentary film or environmental advocacy and action.

Gain in-depth experience by being part of a small creative team producing a feature documentary film.

Internship Tasks may Include:
• Transcribing Interviews shot for the film.
• Logging footage and learning and maintaining data organization techniques.
• Researching topics of interest, possible shoots and characters to film.
• Production Co-ordination, setting up shoots, correspondence.
• Arranging translation, or if bi-lingual, translating footage.
• Finding an audience for the film by helping to coordinate fundraising events and other public presentations.

Desired Qualifications:
• Intern must be passionate about environmental & social issues as well as the medium of documentary film.
• Applicant must be very organized. A portion of his/her work will involve following instructions to organize footage maintain an existing workflow.
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Word & Excel is required.
• A good working knowledge of editing software like Adobe Premiere CS6 and/or Final Cut Pro 7 is a plus.
• Knowledge of film production techniques such as lighting

Note: This is not a work from home position. Applicants must be available for at least six hours of a 9-5 work day and must work at the Collective Eye office. No extensive knowledge of the specific issues around biology, or the issue of loss of seed diversity is required. We are able to offer work-study to some students if you qualify at your institution.

Please reply with resume and brief cover letter detailing why you would be a good fit for this position including time you could commit by the end of the day on Jan. 28. Interviews will be arranged starting Jan. 30. Applicants must be available to start the internship within one week of interview.

SEED: The Untold Story will investigate the untold story of seeds, the basis of life on earth. The film will be the third film in the Biodiversity Trilogy which began with REAL DIRT ON FARMER JOHN and QUEEN OF THE SUN: What are the Bees Telling Us? As many irreplaceable seeds are nearing extinction SEED follows heroes working tirelessly to preserve agricultural security and seed diversity in an uphill battle against high-tech industrial seed companies and an impending global food crisis. Our goal is to make an inspiring, uplifting film that will encourage communities to take action and create positive change.

Collective Eye, Inc. is based in Southeast Portland and staffs a small office of dedicated filmmakers & film-lovers who produce independent documentaries & distribute independent films to educational institutions and other niche audiences across the nation.

People interested in careers in Independent Film Production, Independent Film Distribution, Film Marketing & Publicity, Environmental Activism, Grass-roots Community Outreach, and Political/Social Action Campaigns may find this job is helpful in preparing them for the future.

Intern for Portland based New York Theater-Music Producer (Portland)
Hello -

I'm a Portland based theater and live music producer who works entirely with New York artists. I spent 10+ years there and have relocated to Portland, but still only work back east. My clients are in the downtown performance world and are artists such as David Byrne, Young Jean Lee, and Big Dance Theater/Annie-B Parson.

I'm looking for someone who is interested in a part time internship to help with everything from tour prep to funding research to rehearsal space booking to contract generation. This is a great opportunity for someone to learn many aspects of producing.

I imagine the internship will last about 3 months and if things work out this will turn into a part time position. Right now I need about 10-15 hours per week. If you need college credit and have specific guidelines, I would happily work with you on that.

Please send a resume and a cover letter that tells me a little bit about yourself and your background.

We need someone to pick us up from the airport (my crew of 3) late afternoon on Friday (Feb 1) and take us to the venue.

We shoot that evening and you will be running a DSLR rig on a slider.

IF you have gear/ a Slider this is a plus and we can work out a rental fee for that.

1k with soft Box
P2 Cards

We are looking for a great attitude and reliable - THIS IS MUST. Someone that doesn't mind doing remedial tasks and has Camera Op experience.

I know those things don't always go hand in hand, but once you hear what the show is, you will understand why we need such a small crew of multifaceted people.

Rate will be determined based upon experience / gear.

Please send sample of camera work/ Work experience.

I am currently looking for 2-3 Production assistants for a film I am beginning production for on February 5th through mid March 2013 and will need folks to be available 3-6 shoot days during this time period . I don't necessarily need someone with a lot of experience but a few hard working people who are passionate about film and wish to gain experience for their future careers in this field.

I am not asking you to drive around or make coffee. Depending on what we will need on a given day you could be:

Script supervisor

Assisting our gaffer with lights

writing down scene files

Set dresser

Making sure we don't have non actors walking onto set, etc.

Here is some information about the film.

SYNOPSIS: The Second Coming is a dark love story about a escort who is trying to get out of the business who falls in love with a schizophrenic who thinks he is the Second Coming of Christ. It is a modern day version of the Jesus and Mary Magdelene story meets the film True Romance, which follows the heroes journey but takes the viewer into the twisted minds of the characters through surreal imagery and dreamscapes.

Please email me a little about yourself and any prior experience you may have.

This is a no budget production with only minimal funds to pay for food, rentals, props, and permits.
Nobody is getting paid and everyone involved is doing this because they, like myself are artists and want more experience and footage for their reel.

What I can offer is that you are well fed, respected, credited, a copy of the film, multiple invitations to screenings, connections with those working in the industry and some great experience.

Please feel free to view a trailer of my last film to see if this the kinda production you would like to participate in.
