CASTING CALL FOR INDEPENDENT FILM

We are casting for a Portland-based feature film that will be shot this winter. Wanted are men and women of all ages who are comfortable with stylized dialogue. Title:

I Play With The Phrase Each Other

Writer/Director: Jay Alvarez
Producer: Megan Kopp
Location: Portland and surrounding areas
Shooting date: February 2012

About the film: We are making the first modern movie by Generation Y.

The film chronicles over sixty characters in a vast matrix of incessant correspondence. The story this correspondence forms begins with Jake, a young neurotic who is persuaded to leave his small hometown and move to the city to live with his friend Sean, a fanatical poet who survives by swindling inexperienced Craigslist customers. When Jake arrives in the city Sean has disappeared, and as he struggles to secure a job and a place to stay, Jake discovers a nocturnal world of neon poverty in which his friend is thriving.

Thank you for your interest.

Actor Needed

We are making a video that will be entirely narrated by a person that is not on-screen. But we are telling his actual story. So we need an actor for the on-camera stuff that looks similar to our narrator (because many of the people in the industry that he works in know him). We will NOT see the actor's face. The shots will either be from behind or have something blocking his face (similar to the way they blocked Wilson's face in Home Improvement). I've attached a couple of pictures of the guy we are trying to find a double for. Adeel (the narrator) is 5' 9" and is originally from India.

Again - there will be no speaking lines, just action. Driving a car, walking, typing on a computer, etc. We will be shooting in mid Sept. and the pay will be $500 per day.

Extras needed for courtroom scenes

Looking for extras to act in "courtroom scenes" in a variety of roles.
The Multnomah Bar Foundation and MetroEast Community Media are producing several educational videos about the court system in a quick paced, segment based informational format. Several of the segments depict a fully populated courtroom "tableau", and we are in need of extras to populate this scene, as jury, public, lawyers, judge etc. Come help us create a fun and informative video, and get a behind the scenes peek at a production by being on-set as talent! (This is a non-union production)

Most of the roles are non speaking...the need is for people to show up appropriately dressed on the day of the shoot, and take physical direction so we can create a scene that is an accurate and visually interesting representation of a courtroom in action. Many of the parts are a live "tableau" which require sitting still during the takes.

If you are interested in any of these parts, please get in touch and let me know your availability that weekend. The greatest need is for extras on Saturday afternoon, however there are other smaller scenes throughout the weekend. In addition, a small handful of roles are that of judges and lawyers, and will have speaking parts (a short paragraph or sentence which would be read "in character" off of a teleprompter) Please let me know if you are interested in this type of role.

Location: Multnomah County Courthouse
Saturday September 10th
10am to 1pm: Extras with lines (2 to 3: Judge and Lawyers)
1 pm to 6pm: Extras for fully populated courtroom, no lines (20+ people)

Sunday September 11th
10am to 1pm: Extras to walk in hallway, no lines (6)
3:30 pm to 6pm: Extras in smaller courtroom scene, no lines (3 people) with lines (2 to 3: Judge and Lawyers)

Compensation: These are volunteer positions, we hope this will be an interesting "behind the scenes" peek at a production. Actors will be fed lunch, and will receive a copy of the DVD when it is completed.

Please let me know if you're interested in taking part, this will be a fun project and we'd love to have you on board! Please e-mail me (Subject: Extras-Courthouse) with any questions, or to sign up.

Thanks so much!
Emily

A little about distribution for the project:
The videos will be broadcast on cable access stations around the state through an OSU cooperative network. Copies of the videos will be distributed on CDs to schools statewide and will be featured on YouTube and the MBA and ProtectOregonCourts Web sites, with links from various educational, civic organizations and news media Web sites.
