Auditions: Tuesday, November 20, 2012

This post contains auditions posted on November 20, 2012.

As you know, the available work is always limited this time of year as we hit our slow season in the PDX market.  That being said I will still update the blog as work comes along, minimally once a week.

I am glad that this blog is a helpful and reliable resource for those in the PDX community, and it is great to know people are booking work from using this blog.

Thanks for visiting and supporting this blog.

Auditions for ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST

Theatre In The Grove announces auditions for the drama ONE FLEW OVER
THE CUCKOO'S NEST, by Dale Wasserman, from the novel by Ken Kesey,
and directed by Dan Harry.

Audition dates are Sunday, December 9, and Monday December 10 at 7:00
p.m. at Theatre In The Grove's Main Street Studio, 2011 Main Street
in Forest Grove. Auditions begin no later than 7:15 p.m. Actors will
not be accepted after 7:30 p.m. unless the Director is contacted
prior to audition dates.

A resume is encouraged but not required. An audition sheet will be provided.

Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. No
appointments are necessary.

Needed are 12 to 15 men ages 20 to 60, and 4 to 6 women ages 25 to 45.

Particularly looking for one male actor for the role of Chief
Bromden, Native American, age 25 to 40. Must be tall and broad in stature.

Rehearsals will begin December 16 and the show opens on February 22,
and will run Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at
2:30 p.m. through March 10.

All roles are volunteer.

Facing a lengthy stretch at the work farm penitentiary, boisterous,
brawling Randall P. McMurphy feigns mental illness and is transferred
to a psychiatric hospital. There he finds a motley group of
misanthropes, kept drugged, broken and subservient under the
merciless regime of Nurse Ratched. McMurphy rallies the other
patients and challenges Ratched's authority, opening their minds to
the power of revolution. This uprising soon develops into an all-out
war between staff and patients, in a struggle for the freedom of the
ordinary man. Funny, shocking and profoundly moving, this play is one
of the classics of American drama, and an enduring story of one
individual's struggle against the system.

Seeking a Few Strong Hands
The Portland Revels is looking for a few strong hands to round out the scenic load-in crew for this year's Revels. I need three more hands to work on Tuesday, 11/27 and Monday, 12/17, 9am both days. This is not a full day's work - you can expect to be off mid-day. The same crew working both days is ideal but not necessarily a deal-breaker. We will have a bunch of people on hand, but you should know that whatever doesn't fit in the elevator must be carried cautiously up 1.5 stories of (reasonably wide) stairs. Your pay is $50 each day, plus donuts and coffee.

For those interested in experience in scenic and lighting work, or who just want to see the show for free, we are looking for daytime volunteers on 11/26, 11/27, 11/28, and/or 12/17. If you're interested in volunteering, let me know, or (ideally) sign up on this site: <http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/784299916012>. You don't have to sign up for a full day, we just need your name on the list so we know who to look for on a given day at a given time.

Thanks!
Mike Cino
