A Raisin in the Sun - Auditions

Public House Theatre Company is holding auditions for a staged reading of A Raisin in the Sun. Performances are March 5-7 and there will be 3-5 rehearsals. A modest stipend will be provided. All characters, expect Karl Linder, are African American. Auditions are by appointment only and will be at CoHo Theater this Saturday from 10am-noon. Sides will be emailed once an appointment is scheduled. Interested parties should send a headshot and resume to auditions@publichousetheatre.org or call 503-922-0532. Walter Lee Younger: age 30-45, Strong presence
Lena Younger: age 30-45, frustrated and tired from living a hard life; older than her years
Ruth Younger (Mama): age 50+, a commanding presence, vocal power/strength
Beneatha Younger: age 18-30, youthful with good energy
Joseph Asagai/ George Murchison/ Bobo: age 20-30; actor must be vocally diverse – each of three different characters has very different dialects and speech patterns
Karl Lindner: age 30-50, charming

Twelfth Night auditions

Portland Actors Ensemble announces 2012 auditions for Twelfth Night.

Please bring a headshot and resume and prepare one classical monologue of your choice (25 lines maximum). Musicians are encouraged to audition as well. Please bring an instrument and be ready to play/sing.

PAE has been producing Shakespeare-in-the-Parks productions in Portland for 43 years with the mission of providing financially accessible classical theater in a non-traditional environment. Broadway Rose Theatre Announces Auditions for Upcoming Musicals

Broadway Rose Theatre Company announces auditions for the musicals "The Sound of Music", "The Drowsy Chaperone" and "Little Shop of Horrors", and two children's musical shows, "Beauty and the Beast" and "Pinocchio". Auditions will be by appointment only at the Broadway Rose New Stage. The Broadway Rose hires Equity Guest Artists and Non-Equity performers. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

General Auditions - Adults

Saturday, March 10, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Sunday, March 11, 1:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Monday, March 12, 6 – 9 p.m.

Tuesday, March 13, 6 – 9 p.m.

Children's Auditions for The Sound of Music

Kids auditions are by appointment only. All actors auditioning for Liesl and Rolf should audition with the adults - see above for audition dates.

Sunday, March 25, 1:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Callbacks are Monday, March 26, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. by invitation only.

Scripts are available for perusal by arrangement with Emma.

All callback auditions are by invitation only. Auditioners will be notified of the time by invitation email.

Callbacks for "The Drowsy Chaperone" are March 17 – 18, callbacks for "The Sound of Music" are March 18 – 20 for adults and March 26 for kids, and callbacks for "Little Shop of Horrors" are April 1 – 2.

"Beauty and the Beast" and "Pinocchio" will not have callbacks. Casting will be from the General Audition.

Important information:

-18 years old or older only please for all roles (other than the children in "The Sound of Music").

-Please prepare 32 bars. Song must be memorized. Bring sheet music in your own key (music will not be transposed). Accompanist will be provided. Be prepared to sing a second song if requested. No taped or a cappella music.

-Please bring a current non-returnable photo and resume.

-Please bring your calendar to list your conflicts.

-Auditions will be held at Broadway Rose's New Stage, 12850 SW Grant Avenue in Tigard.

-Please arrive at least 10 minutes earlier than your audition time to complete an audition form.

-Women and girls: please wear a skirt and heels or flats.

Audition 2/6 - Liminal presents Gertrude Stein (17 SE 8th)

Liminal is holding auditions for 4-6 female actors and dancers to be a part of a music-theatre-performance installation based on the language of Gertrude Stein. Ideal candidates have strong physical training in dance or theatre - as well as a willingness to use these skills in unorthodox and uncharted ways in a context of exploration. Experience in ensemble-created work (dance or theater) highly desirable.

No prepared material is required. This will be a group audition in a workshop format. Please bring one head shot or other photo, and a resume.

There will be three evening performances, March 22-24. There is no compensation available for this collaborative opportunity.

Liminal performance group is an extended network of performing, visual, literary, and conceptual artists working at the boundaries of their mediums.

Liminal presents Gertrude Stein is an interdisciplinary performance installation happening in March in Portland, OR, as a part of the March Music Moderne 2012 festival. Celebrating the musicality of Stein's language, and the body of music and art that has been inspired by her work, Gertrude Stein brings together artists from music, dance, theatre, film, visual and literary arts. The evening is a multi-room durational performance experience, in which the audience may come and go as they like amongst the many simultaneous worlds.

Camille Cettina is directing the piece, and John Berendzen is composing original music for voices.
