Oregon Children's Theatre 2013/2014 General Auditions
OCT’s 2013/2014 general auditions will be held June 20 - June 24. Please call for an appointment after May 1st.

OCT is an award-winning professional theater company. However, we encourage actors at all levels of experience to participate in auditions. We hold general auditions annually in June and callbacks during summer and early fall.

OCT’S SEASON AUDITIONS

OCT holds general auditions for its professional, main stage season in June. Dates are posted on our Summer Acting Academy class brochures, as well as on our website. Typically we hold youth and adult auditions separately.

During auditions, you will be asked to present a prepared monologue (approx. one minute), have a headshot or current photo, and a resume. Youth actors will  participate in a group activity and then present monologue. We do not require a song for general auditions, and there is no accompaniment available. You may prepare a few bars of music to sing a cappella if you wish; not all auditioners will be asked to sing.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR OCT AUDITIONS

Bring your resume, headshot, and a prepared monologue:

RESUME: Include contact info, all shows you’ve been in (professional and non) with role listed and which theater company or school and director, any film/camera/voice work, all training/classes with company/school and instructors, as well as special skills and interests.

HEADSHOT: This can be a professional 8x10 headshot, or a current photo. Class photos work great. You do not need a professional headshot for OCT, as long as your photo is current and looks like you.

MONOLOGUE: Your monologue should be approximately 1 minute long and from a play. We will also accept monologues from books or poems for younger actors. However, as you move towards professional theater, you will need to present pieces from plays. Adults: we prefer a single contemporary monologue.

CALLBACKS

You won’t hear from us unless we want to call you back for a specific show. Most callbacks will be scheduled by October. If called back, we will tell you at that time what to prepare. Generally, you will be asked to do cold readings from the script and a song if being considered for a musical. Occasionally, we will have additional callbacks later in the season as needs arise, so we'll keep your information on file all year long. Please check back at the top of this page to find out if a particular show has been cast.

CASTING CALL
Hello my name is Izzy Combs. I am the Assistant Director for Director Josh Kennedy's upcoming short film, "The Pale Box." This short film is a film Noir style, dark comedy. We will be shooting it on Saturday the 11th from 12:00pm - 8:00pm, and Sunday the 12th from 12:00pm - 8:00pm. There is no compensation for you services, but we will have a bunch of yummy food on set.

"The Pale Box" (premise)
A mysterious box appears on Bob’s doorstep. Whatever he finds inside of it is on the verge of convincing him to walk next door to murder his neighbor. The fact of the matter is that the box is a harmless misunderstanding, constructed in part by a pot addicted individual attempting to verbalize his hatred for the drug that he can’t seem to want to push out of his life.

CHARACTER BIOS:

BOB -

(PHYSICAL TRAITS) Age Range: 20-40 years old; Gender: Male; Hair: Short; Body Type: Threatening; He is wearing a wrinkled dress shirt partially tucked into a pair of loose slacks.

(PROFILE) Bob is an individual who continuously strives to make something of himself.. Unfortunately, as he has met a woman next door that he finds himself infatuated with, he may not have the patience to win her heart. After receiving a mysterious box at the foot of his door, it is clear that he will have to steal it.

(CHARACTER TRAITS) Bob is very calm. He contains all his anger but continues to let it build as he contemplates his situation. This generally ends in him overreacting in violent ways, such as destroying his room and throwing objects, or in this case, going next door to kill the woman he loves.

TOM -

(PHYSICAL TRAITS) Age Range: 20-30 years old; Gender: Male; Body Type: Scrawny; His clothes fit loosely around his thin body. His motions and mind are scattered. With nothing new on his body, a thin layer of a weeks’ worth of dirt rests in his skin.

(PROFILE) When Tom finds himself being put down in rehab for attempting to fix his addiction to a bitch drug, he attempts to quit for good. His entire life he has been a failure. He wants to move into a better house and attempt to get his life back on track.

(CHARACTER TRAITS) Tom is calm in most situations. He is a very positive individual and sees the glass as half full. He takes nothing too seriously. A flaw in Tom is his lack of willpower. He cannot force himself to do what he must to complete his goal.

Reply to:  There are only two roles available in the film. If you are interested in either of them, and you fit the physical traits, please email me at justizzy21@gmail.com, and have two head-shots, as well as a full body shot at hand. (The images do not have to be professionally taken).

Need Lead Actress and "Best Friend" Actor for Social Drama/Comedy (Portland)
Athletic, non white (mix is welcome) woman 18-23 yrs old
Also an average height (5'8'ish)'out of shape male, race not important. To play best friend to male lead 20-23 yrs old
Everything else is in place for this movie, these are the only roles need to be filled to get on the roll.
Hope to hear from anyone interested through email as soon as possible.

This movie is"Fear Death by Water" it is a paralleled plot between the male lead and female lead who are strangers who later meet at a party.
The male has trouble being receptive to women. While the female is fearful and tired of being constantly harassed by men.
The comedy comes from dialogue between the male lead and his two best friends as they talk about day to day things and pop culture.
Yet the movie's focus is on the difficulty men face approaching women and the bombard women face from men and the consequences of when a woman is pushed too far.

If you are interested e-mail me and I will be happy to send the script to you.

Actor & Actress Needed - Short Silent Film (Portland)
I am a film student producing a short silent film as a final creative project for one of my film courses this spring. The short film is titled "The Starlet", and it follows a young woman named Victoria who has made it big as a female rockstar, and yet she is ironically consumed by a sense of loneliness. While out reflecting on her life she stumbles onto Eric, who is the polar opposite of her; poor and unknown. But when given the opportunity to sing again, Victoria finds solace in her new friend.
The film will run somewhere between five and ten minutes and only take a couple hours to shoot. As a silent film, I am obviously looking for actors strong in physical action and especially emotion in the case of Victoria's character. I am looking to cast and shoot the piece as soon as possible as I have all the groundwork such as shot listing, location scouting, etc. taken care of. In the case of each character, I am looking for actors between the ages of 20 - 25. Upon inquiry sides will be provided.

CASTING CALL FOR CHILD ACTOR/ACTRESS: URGENT
I am a 3rd year film student attending the Art Institute of Portland looking for talent in an upcoming, small crew production. There is one position that needs to be filled. It is a non speaking role as this short film has no dialog. Locations will include a vineyard and the exterior of a private residence. This short is appropriate for all ages. The crew and myself will do our best to provide a fun and safe environment for the talent and would encourage a guardian or guardians to come to the shoot!

Preferred female but accepting both male and female actors. 4-8 years of age. Able to give a big smile!

Although no experience is required, it is important that the actor or actress be able to carry out simple actions without looking at the camera lens.

THIS SHORT FILM IS SCHEDULED FOR 5/19. WE SHOOT FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE DAY (11am til sunset). There will be opportunity for downtime and meals so please do not be deterred by the length of the shoot.

Please reply to this post ASAP with a head shot/picture and any questions you have. If the talent meets the aforementioned criteria, I will send you the script so you can verify that the shoot will be appropriate for your child.

Thank you!!!
