We will be shooting an episode of a true crime series with the Washington County Sheriff's Office. On Thursday (11/4), we need an asian male extra to play a suspect in an interrogation scene at the WCSO. There will be no lines to memorize, or any major acting. Announcing Auditions for
a staged reading of Fat Pig, by Neil LaBute

A staged reading co-produced by Public Playhouse and CoHo Productions and sponsored by Artists Repertory Theatre

Auditions will be held at CoHo Theater on Saturday, November 13 from 10am-2pm, by appointment only. Bring a headshot and resume to the audition, and prepare 1 contemporary monologue, not to exceed 90 seconds.

There will be two Monday evening performances: January 10 and 17, 2011. Performances will be at ART’s Morrison Stage at 7:30pm. Actors will receive a $100 stipend. An Equity Waiver has been granted for this reading and AEA actors are encouraged to audition.

Fat Pig is directed by Rhett Luedtke. Rhett’s directing credits include the Kennedy Center, Alabama Shakespeare Festival, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, Idaho Repertory Theatre and Salem Repertory Theatre. He is an associate professor of theatre at George Fox University.

CoHo Theater is located at 2257 NW Raleigh St., Portland, 97210. Email auditions@publicplayhouse.org or call Jolin at 503-922-0532 to schedule an appointment.

Helen: A woman in her late 20s / early 30s, plus size (very), funny, charming and piercing intellect. A librarian.

Tom: A man in his late 20s / early 30s, fit, charming, well dressed, moving up the corporate ladder swiftly, but lost.

Carter: A man in his late 20s / early 30s, fit, impeccably dressed, aggressive, a player, entitled and shrewd, moving up the corporate ladder swiftly.

Jeannie: A woman in her late 20s / early 30s, fit, pretty, intelligent, hurt, trying to move up the corporate ladder in a world dominated by men like Carter.

How many insults can you hear before you have to stand up and defend the woman you love? Tom faces just that question when he falls for Helen, a bright, funny, sexy young woman who happens to be plus-sized - and then some. Forced to explain his new relationship to his shallow (although shockingly funny) friends, he finally comes to terms with his own preconceptions of the importance of conventional good looks. Neil LaBute's sharply drawn play not only critiques our slavish adherence to Hollywood ideals of beauty but also boldly questions our own ability to change what we dislike about ourselves.

Casting Call (unpaid) for "Cardenio"

Hi everyone--My name's Neil Anderson, I'm an actor and writer for Cardenio. Well known contemporary art curator Jeff Jahn (www.jeffjahn.com) is directing this version of Shakespeare's lost play "Cardenio." Call it an adaptstraction.

We need to cast two characters, Luscinda and Sancho Panza. Auditions will be November 7th, 2010, at 2:00 pm at Worksound Gallery (820 SE Alder). Parts are unpaid, but both actors will get screen credits. Auditions will consist of line readings from the script, experience with Shakespeare is a plus. Auditions will be filmed, and footage might be used in the finished film, so we'd be asking actors to sign a release at the audition for permission to use the footage.

Luscinda: woman, mid-twenties, the beloved of Cardenio, married against her will to the treacherous Don Fernando.

Sancho Panza: lazy, deceptive, manipulative, greedy, but somehow kind of likable and loyal in his own way.
