Art Beat - Seeking Indie Films and Actors Needed - Reply by Dec 6

Included in this message is info about:
- Art Beat at Portland Community College
- an opportunity to present your work and discuss it
- compensation for some filmmakers and actors

Hello Filmmakers and Actors,

I represent Portland Community College and we are gearing up for Art Beat
2011 which takes place May 9th through 14th next year. For the last 2
years, we've included independent film offerings and local actors as guest
speakers. Last year included Audrey Walker and a screening of Steve
Coker's indie film, Crackin' The Code.

For 2011, because of the popularity of these events, we plan to include
short films and at least one feature film (possibly two) and definitely
one (but possibly two) actor guest speaker(s). All film events are at
PCC's Cascade Campus Auditorium, on N Killingsworth & Albina. This is a
great venue to present your film and you are assured of getting an
audience of enthusiastic students from PCC's Multimedia program. You may
also include a focus-group survey at the time you present your film.
Filmmakers who've done this have received excellent (and tactful!)
feedback from our audiences.

I will gladly take recommendations from anyone on this maillist if you
think there's a Portland (or relatively local) film or actor that you
think would be good to add to this event.

If you have a film or are an actor, here's what we need from you if you
are interested in participating:

FILMMAKERS - FEATURE FILMS

Please let me know about your film and provide links to your presskit (if
applicable) and a trailer on YouTube, Facebook, etc. I will likely send
you out a questionnaire to get more information once I hear from you.

You would likely be paid $200 (current PCC Art Beat stipend) for your
participation.

Preferences:
- that you are available to come to the screening and talk about your film
- a premiere
- films from Portland first, then Oregon, then Northwest

FILMMAKERS - SHORT FILMS

Please let me know about your film and provide links to your presskit (if
applicable) and a trailer on YouTube, Facebook, etc. I will likely send
you out a questionnaire to get more information once I hear from you.

At this time, it's not likely you'll be compensated for showing your film,
however, you will likely have a chance to discuss your film if you are
able to attend.

Preferences:
- running time 15 minutes or less
- films from the Northwest

ACTORS

We've been having actors speak to a Multimedia class and discuss their
work and answer questions from students. The time commitment is about an
hour to an hour and a half and will most likely occur on Thursday, May 12,
2011, beginning at 6:30pm.

Please provide me with a link to your reel on YouTube, etc., and a link to
your Web page or fan page, etc.

You would likely be paid $200 (current PCC Art Beat stipend) for your
participation.

Preferences:
- actors who live and work in Portland

You should be able to provide us with clips from films you've been in (2
or 3) and excerpts from scripts (entire scripts are not required).

If you are interested in this opportunity or know someone who might be,
please contact me at gregkerrnet@gmail.com -- please don't reply back here
-- and I will be happy to provide you with more information on the process
and the event.

Thanks!

Greg Kerr
PCC Cascade Faculty Representative
Art Beat 2011 Committee
