Audition Notice - THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH
STAGES Performing Arts Youth Academy announces auditions for:
THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH
(nonmusical)
For actors and actresses in grades 3 through 9.
October 24 and 25, 6:30 pm at Poynter Middle School 1535 NE Grant Str., Hillsboro 97123.
Call backs with be October 26.
These are open auditions. Actors are not required to prepare anything, but can come with a monologue if they choose.
Resume and headshots are encouraged, but not required.
All the roles are nonpaying.
Rehearsals will begin the following week and basically be Mondays through Thursdays 6:30-8:30.
There will be no required rehearsals during Winter Break.
Performances are January 13 – 29th, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday matinees.
Also, actors must be willing to miss two or three days of school, as there will be matinee performances for elementary schools January 23, 24 and maybe 25. (Elementary school performances dates subject to change.)
Here are Milo's adventures in the Land of Wisdom where he's forced to think about many new things. Milo learns of the argument between King Azaz and his brother, the Mathemagician whose disagreement over words and numbers has led to the banishment of Princesses Sweet Rhyme and Pure Reason. Milo is dispatched to rescue the Princesses from the Land of Ignorance. The knowledge and skills Milo picks up on his journey help him to save the Princesses. When he must return home, Milo's sorry to leave his friends-- but enriched by his experience, he realizes his attitude towards learning will never be the same.

PHAME Academy Seeks Guest Artists
PHAME Academy, the Portland region's fine and performing arts organization serving adults with developmental disabilities, seeks passionate and imaginative guest artists to create and lead workshops for Fall Term 2011. PHAME's weekend workshop series allows us to provide our students with the opportunity to work with Portland-area guest artists in a diverse range of artistic disciplines.
Currently, we are looking for two dynamic individuals to each lead one 2-3 hour Saturday afternoon workshop in the following areas: Stage Make-up and Ballroom Dance.
Workshop Dates: TBD, based on artist availability. Most Saturdays in October, November, and early December are possible.
Stipend: $200
Applicants who have experience working with special needs students are strongly encouraged to apply, though previous experience is not required.

Summary
The Outreach Coordinator helps Artists Rep achieve strategic goals for audience development primarily through creating partnerships throughout the community to connect new audiences to Artists Rep, and by providing social and educational experiences for our audiences to strengthen their relationship with the theater.
Working Conditions
Evening and weekend work is required, but daytime is typical.
Physical demands: 15% standing; 80% sitting; 5% lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 20 lbs.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develops partnerships with other arts, social service, educational and social organizations whose constituencies may have an affinity for Artists Rep’s work to bring new audiences to the theater through co promotions, theater events, benefit events and other opportunities as yet to be identified.
With the Marketing and PR Director, develops new value-added theater events to enhance audience experience and expand audiences according to Artists Rep’s strategic goals for audience development. These may include pub nights, play-reading clubs, music events, play-specific special events, etc.
Plans and executes existing regularly scheduled audience enrichment events including Page to Stage talks and Post-Play Discussions, and seeks ways to grow and enhance these events to increase participation and enhance the theatergoing experience.
Identifies and pursues group sales opportunities.
Works with the development department to identify opportunities to engage donors in enrichment or community events when appropriate and beneficial.
Coordinates current school matinee offerings.
Represents staff at Education and Outreach committee meetings, helping to shape the future of education programming and events at Artists Rep and engage schools and young people with the theatre.
With Marketing and PR Director, creates and executes strategy for engaging underrepresented audiences at Artists Rep, with particular but not exclusive focus on younger adults, as well as diversifying our audiences in terms of ethnicity and socioeconomic factors.
As part of the Marketing and PR team, assists on a variety of tasks as assigned to promote Artists Rep and achieve the theatre’s goals for earned revenue, audience development and public relations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Skill with forging new relationships and forming alliances with community partners.
Ability to see connections and affinities among the theatre and other organizations/communities/groups.
The ability to follow through on transforming ideas and potential into results.
A knowledge of Portland’s cultural and social landscape and facility with making connections with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to organize and execute public events.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work across multiple departments and organizations to execute plans.
Proficiency in most MS Office applications.
Ability to represent Artists Repertory Theatre to the public with warmth, enthusiasm and professionalism at all times.
Education and Work Experience
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
Bachelors Degree required
Minimum of 1 year of working in a marketing, sales or community affairs position, preferably related to arts, culture, social services or education.
PREFERENCES
Knowledge of and passion for the performing arts, specifically theatre, is preferred.

Audition Annc: Role of Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons
AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT:
La Marquise De Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons
Bag&Baggage Productions, a professional theatre company in Hillsboro
(www.bagnbaggage.org), announces auditions for “Dangerous Liaisons,” by Christopher
Hampton, directed by Patrick Spike, for the role of La Marquise De Merteuil (all other roles in
this production have been cast!).
La Marquise De Merteuil: The toast of all Paris, considered wise and chaste, though she has
had more lovers than most professionals, until she enters into an unsavory deal with her former
lover the Vicomte de Valmont. He must provide her with written proof that he has seduced the
religious Présidente de Tourvel before she will sleep with him again. By the end, the Marquise's
tendency to enjoy intrigue before love gets her into trouble, and she is revealed as the schemer
she is.
AUDITIONS:
Auditions will be held in Hillsboro on Saturday, October 8, during the day, and will be by
invitation only. Each actor granted an audition slot will be given a 10 minute private audition
with the director & production staff. To be considered for an audition slot, actors should have
previous professional experience, have access to reliable transportation, and be available and
willing to rehearse and perform in Hillsboro.
FURTHER DETAILS:
All actors in this production will be on stage throughout the entire performance. They will help
change scenery where needed. Any/all of them may also double for servants and other unnamed
characters.
The director would like all actors to be mostly memorized by first rehearsal (first rehearsal will
likely be March 25, 2012).
The hired actress will receive a $700 stipend after the close of the show.
Performance dates are as follows:
Dangerous Liaisons: May 9 – 27, 2012
All performances will be at the Venetian Theatre in downtown Hillsboro.Rehearsals begin approximately 6 weeks in advance of Opening.
