Auditions: Wednesday, June 8, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Wednesday, June 8, 2011.

Ready for another topic of discussion? I have received some personal feedback on my blog, and not everyone is a fan of the topics of discussion each week. Some people would rather just visit and get their audition info, which I completely understand.

Since I am doing this blog for you, I want this to be enjoyable for you. Feel free to send me suggestions for topics you'd like to discuss, or suggestions to make this blog more useful for you. Feel free to use the chat box, or you can send me a private message.

I hope you'll continue to look here for auditions everyday.

As always, if you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends.

Thanks.

need an actress

Hi-

One of my internet marketing clients is having me make a video using a male actor (playing a guy who has made a ton of money in internet marketing) but he wants the video to start out with a young, blonde (long hair) who acts semi-bimboish pretending to be the person who made all of the money (we will probably shoot this is a very nice living room) and then the actor will enter the shot and interrupt the girl who will then walk off-camera.

The portion of the script for you (the girl) will only be 2-3 minutes long and will be on a teleprompter so you will not have to memorize anything. The pay will be $150 and the shoot will take less than an hour.

Thank you!!

Performers needed for Workshop

Workshop to develop the new play, Beautiful Day by Portland playwright Bobby Ryan.

Dates: July 11, 12, 13

Time: 12:30-3:30pm

Needed: You do not necessarily need to fit the following character descriptions. Experience in this type of work and/or in a long-term relationship (due to the content of the play) will take precedence.

1 actress with a playing age range of 60 – 80 years of age
2 actors with a playing age range of 25 – 40 years of age
2 actors with a playing age range of 60 – 80 years of age

All performers should have a strong sense of improvisation in either voice and/or movement. Understanding the simple structure of composition (a beginning, middle and end) is also helpful.

Remuneration: All performers will receive a small stipend, snacks during the workshop sessions as well as credit in the program of the fully staged production.

Who we are: Lights Up! Productions has been producing original work in Colorado and Oregon since 2006. Most recently the critically acclaimed premier of Feather was produced at Theater! Theatre! last spring. Lights Up! has been the recipient of several arts-funding grants from organizations including the Regional Arts and Culture Council. The company was co-founded by partners, Bobby and Tyler Ryan, both of whom share a passion for the magic of live performance.

Description of the Workshop: It will be structured in a way that Lights Up! Productions has worked with in the development of all our original plays. Props, lights, music, movement, singing and text are used in spontaneous as well as planned compositions based on the characters and story of our new play, Beautiful Day. We are also collaborating with a visual artist, a choreographer, and two musicians who are creating original music for the play. There will be singing (for those who are able and/or interested). This is an isolated event with no audience showing.

Description of the Play: Beautiful Day tells the elevating story of the birth, death and life of a forty year relationship between two men. Picking up just days after the passing of Meri, we find seventy year old Sam trapped in the troubling normality of his husband’s wake. Together with his mother-in-law, Ruth, he finds a starting point for grief in a painted portrait. In this visionary story of love, paintings are alive, memories are experienced through song and marriage finds its essence in dance.
