“Bus Stop” is “a composite picture of varying kinds of love, ranging from the innocent to the depraved” – Inge’s own words. It is a drama, with romantic and some comedic elements. The play is set in a diner about 30 miles west of Kansas City in early March, 1955. A freak snowstorm has halted the progress of the bus, and the eight characters (only five were in the bus) have a weather-enforced layover in the diner from approximately 1 to 5 a.m. Romantic or quasi-romantic relationships ensue between Grace and Carl; Professor Lyman and Elma; Cherie and Bo; and (implied) Virgil and Bo. Will is the older authority figure outside the relationships. The film version starring Marilyn Monroe was only very loosely based on this stage version.

Casting call for short film - Seattle

Casting call for short drama to be shot on HD: The Dinner Table. Director’s
latest film, Night Stand, has played SIFF, the Los Angeles International
Short Film Fest, and numerous other festivals in the United States and
Europe.

The Dinner Table is a short film about a family. At no point do we see the
entire family together, but through these incomplete portraits we come to
understand the entire family--through the absences of each member, we come
to understand what they mean to the whole.

The Dinner Table, like your own family, is both funny and poignant,
surprising and familiar, simple at times and irreducibly complex at others.
The film will be brief (approx. 15min) but give us a rich glimpse of these
characters and their relationships.

This will be a very performance-centric film and is a great opportunity for
actors to stretch their muscles.

6-day shoot in Seattle in mid-to-late winter with rehearsals preceding.
Non-union. Actors will receive stipend (TBD but in the neighborhood of
$50/day).

BOB - Late 50s/early 60s. Father, retired. Battling serious illness.

ALICE - Late 50s/early 60s. Mother, professional.

CATHERINE - Late 20s-mid 30s. Eldest daughter, community college teacher.

DAVID - Late 20s-early 30s. Middle child, struggling web designer.

ETHAN - 20s. Youngest son, barista and increasingly successful musician. No
real-life musical proficiency necessary.

Auditions will begin the weekend of December 4-5. In order of preference,
please send reel, headshot, and/or resume.
