Actors Needed for Short Film (Newberg, OR)

We are in need of 6 actors (of high school looking age) for a 25min short student film. The synopsis:
Push the bully holds cruel dominion over the school, earning his respect through fear and deprecation. When new kid John Williams enters the school and challenges his sovereignty, Push must fight to retain not only his power, but also his very identity.

The 6 roles we are searching for are:

Push the bully is not short, nor is he tall. With his smile he could get away with murder. Push is passive aggressive, a bully of the mind and heart. He finds your flaws and makes you painfully aware of them. He is not physically strong, but he is brave.

Eugene Kraft is Push's right hand man. Eugene is afraid of Push, and loves seeing Push bully anybody beside himself.

John Williams is a prince. A hero. He is well-read, well-bred, and well traveled. He is tall, with blond hair just long enough to comb, and steely blue eyes. Williams comes from a rich background, as evidenced by his manner of speech and wide travels. Williams is bully-prepared and makes a splash when he joins the school.

Frank is one of Push's favorite victims. Frank is overweight. And he has a lisp. He knows the drill around Push and takes his bullying dutifully... Until he meets John Williams.

Slud is another of Push's favorite victims. Slud has a disability that requires the use of forearm crutches. Due to Push's derision he sees little potential in himself. That changes when John Williams arrives.

Clob, another of Push's favorites, looks radioactive. Clob has acne. Clob is ugly under his acne. An encounter with Williams changes Clob.

This is a non-paying gig but we will provide meals during long shoot days, a DVD of the film will be provided when it's done and also great seats at the premiere.

We are planning on shooting the weekends of February 10-12, 17-19, 24-26.
Please email me with any questions and to set up an audition for next week. We will be auditioning at the George Fox University Portland Center in Tigard, Oregon.

Casting Call: Independent Feature Film

Lighter People is a comedy/drama about a young man and his relationship with the people around him. While generally serious in tone, the film will have an offbeat, occassionally inappropriate sense of humor. The story follows Aaron and his best friend Zach as they drive to Dawson Creek (no relation) Canada to visit Aaron's long distance girlfriend Brooke.

We're looking for two males and one female between the ages of 21 and 34. No acting experience necessary. We're looking for interesting, passionate people interested in being part of a creative team and being part of the artistic process. Our goal is naturalistic acting and although there is a fully developed script, improvisation will be highly encouraged.

Aaron: Someone who can convincingly control a conversation, and not a passive listener. He is an intelligent person, a talker, generally bright and perceptive, but also frequently lost in his own thoughts. Slightly immature. Has a problem and doesn't know he has a problem which is kind of part of his problem. Secretly attended one Yoga class but never told anyone.

Zach: Less of a talker. Very easy-going. Smart, maybe smarter than Aaron, but in a very down-to-earth way. Avuncular. Plays RPG games. May get drunk and sing along to Bruce Hornsby songs on Pandora though this is pure speculation.

Brooke: Has a good sense of humor. Adventurous, creative, independent, motivated. Not impatient, but has a no-nonsense kind of attitude. Likes to keep moving and having fun, doesn't like wasting time. Has a distaste for the actor Daniel Stern.

Roles are adaptable and those not meeting the descriptions are still encouraged to apply. Due to the improvisational nature and amateur level of the acting, casting two friends/coworkers/bandmates as Aaron and Zach is highly desirable. Though not required, gentlemen who apply together may be given priority.

Publicity and Outreach Volunteers/Interns Needed

BroadArts Theatre is in search of talented and passionate individuals to help us spread the word that our new show Bunkin' With You in the Afterlife by Jody Seay is about to open!

Full of rambunctious fun, this comedy musical play takes square aim at the sometimes touchy subject of religion and spirituality, as well as homosexuality, equality, and women's rights. The musical features Minnie Rhodes, a lesbian minister, and her Many Roads Ministry, Cowgirls for the Lord, who ride around on horseback in the deep green hills of conservative southern Oregon spreading, and singing, the good news - not of having been saved - but, indeed, of never actually having been lost.

We are specifically looking for a Social Media/Publicity Volunteer and an LGBTQ Community Outreach Volunteer. We've been hard at work getting the show up and running and would endlessly appreciate the extra hands and minds of some dedicated volunteers. College credit may be available. I (or perhaps our new volunteer!) will be posting more info soon about the show and how you can get tickets!

Thank you as always!

Seeking stage manager/Tech Deity

Hey Community -

I want to echo Anet's recent comment about the awesomeness of this list-serv. I so appreciate being able to wake up in a panic at 3am because I don't have a stage manager and know there is a place I can go, where they hang off the trees like ripe juicy peaches.

At least, I hope there are a few peaches out there, just waiting to be picked.

I am looking for a cross between a stage manager and a running crew. Basically, I need someone who can run lights and sound for my solo show. (I'm pretty sure it's possible for one person to do both as it isn't a tech heavy show).

The dates are February 10th-26th (a Thursday-Sunday run) with added shows on the 13th and 14th.

I'll want that person to start working with me a few days before-hand, to learn the show and the booth at Theater! Theater!'s Arena Stage (bonus points if you know it already!)

This is a paid position. ($300 for the run).

The show is called GoodGirls'Guide: Dominatrix for Dummies and features some adult content. So...not for the easily offended. (Extra bonus points for the kinky-inclined!) (but not in any way necessary).

Contact me if you are interested.

Thanks everybody - i look forward to seeing many of you around Fertile Ground. Best of luck with all the shows/readings happening this weekend!
