Thank you to those of you who shared details about traveling for auditions and booked work. I am curious how many people actually travel to LA or Seattle for potential gigs. I imagine if something like pilot season offered a chance to be seen in LA by top casting directors, this may be worthwhile, but otherwise, I'm just not sure how many of us would need to make that trip. How far do you travel for auditions? How often do you travel to audition?
Have you ever submitted a video audition in place of traveling, and if so, was this an option listed in the audition post, or was this an option you brought up to the casting director? Continue to share your thoughts on traveling for potential and/or confirmed work.
If you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.
Thanks.

Corpses (extras+) needed for feature horror film
We are in need of a couple more women to play "corpses" in the opening scene of our upcoming horror film shoot.
This is a retro-styled film, capturing some of the essence and feel of the the great horror films of the mid 70s. If you like films such as Henry: portraid of a serial killer, The original Last House of The Left, the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then this may interest you. We are not shooting in Hi-def on this, but rather mimicking a 16mm look and editing accordingly.
We also need at least one actress comfortable with partial nudity for the same scene. Serious only.
A short trailer for the film may be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o_7LfIgaTc
This is our second feature film being shot in the Portland area: The trailer for our first may be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFGwy0bUBXM
Please send photo and resume' if interested.

SHAKESPEARE - Actor 18-25
Looking for an actor 18-25 (negotiable) to play the role of Isaac (Isabella) in a movie version of MEASURE FOR MEASURE done with an all-male cast. The movie is mostly shot, but we are reshooting 2 roles. We have had problems casting this role. We are wanting someone to do a very uptight, repressed take on the character. Must be young, attractive and not 'chew the words' (know what you're saying). Dresses like a Mormon.
The role is to be shot solo, greenscreen and you will be inserted into the movie with the other actors. The part can be shot all in one day. Cue cards/cheats are FINE providing I cant tell you're using them. (It's a movie not a play, so lots of things are easier for the actor-especially with learning lines etc).
If interested, send a pic/contact info and availability for details. Sending a link to an uploaded video of you reading a scene from the play? Even better, but not required.
I want to shoot this by the end of next week, so I need someone who can jump in quickly and get their day of shooting in and done ASAP.
This is one of the main roles, but the greenscreen will allow us to get you ina dn out quickly and painlessly in 1 session.

Play description:
Roy and Irma have been married for twenty-five years. They have two children. They live in the heartland. They're respected members of their church and their community. When Roy and Irma go to their pastor for marriage counseling, Roy confesses that he's a woman trapped in a man's body and would like to have a sex change. As would be expected, Irma throws Roy out of the house. But their bond as a couple is stronger than either of them imagined, and eventually Irma finds a way to make peace with this unfathomable situation and accept her transformed husband as her lifelong mate. They not only have to wrestle with the meaning of their marriage, they must deal with the delicate dynamics of their family as well. Roy is burdened by his father's stubborn assessment of his manhood and his mother's sad acceptance of life's cruelties. Irma, in the midst of menopause, is struggling with her adolescent tomboy daughter, Patty Ann, who is raging against the injustices of her own budding hormones. And the grown and absent son, Wayne, who has always bemoaned his father's emotional limitations, is now outraged by his father's desire to be a woman. Overseeing it all is Roy's legendary grandmother, who left her husband and son to pursue her own sexual and emotional needs. The play explores the complexities of marriage, family and deconstructs the very notion of love.
Characters:
Roy - middle-American and middle-aged. Around 45 years old
Wayne - Roy's son, early 20's, a roadie.
Patty Ann - Roy's daughter, 13, a tomboy. We are auditioning both males and females for this role.

Roy Senior - Roy's father, a farmer. Around 70 years old
Em - Roy's mother, a farmer's wife. Around 70 years old
Frank - Roy's boss at the John Deere plant. 35-55 years old
The roles of Irma and Grandmother Ruth are cast.
This production will be directed by Corey Brunish
