Auditions: Thursday, March 24, 2011

This page contains auditions posted on Thursday, March 24, 2011.

As we are learning by reading the feedback from those who contributed to this week's discussion, it can be a huge challenge to balance work with play, and it can seem nearly impossible to balance time for yourself and time with family and friends. This is an ongoing struggle I am faced with. When we go too fast and accept every job that comes our way, we tend to burn out and lose energy for other incredible opportunities that come our way.

While some have mentioned that they are not signed with an agency, this means you then must manage your own scheduling. Even those who have an agent have mentioned that they still find much of their work themselves, acting as their own manager. One would think that managing your own workload would allow more free time, but this doesn't ever seem to be the case.

Thank you to those who have already shared stories, experiences, and advice. Let's continue
this week's topic of discussion and chat about balancing life with an acting career.

If you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

CASTING - 'Tis Pity She's a Whore - Compass Rep.

Hello PDX,

Compass Rep is looking for a 40-50 year-old man to play Florio, the father of the young lovers in our upcoming production of 'Tis Pity She's a Whore.

This role is similar to Capulet in Romeo and Juliet. In a play about obsession, this is a man obsessed with his children. Or, more correctly, obsessed with his perception of his children. His obsession blinds him to the reality.

Rehearsals begin on April 2 and the show opens on May 6. We run through May 29. The show is directed by me.

There is some small money for the role. No AEA this time.

Thanks.

- Bruce H.

Please send a headshot and resume to compassrep@earthlink.net.

Looking for Adjudicators!

Greetings!

First of all, I cannot thank ALL of you enough for always being so incredibly generous at helping me to find AMAZING people to work with my students...I am truly indebted to you all.

Secondly - I am organizing the Technical Competition for the Oregon State Thespian Conference. I am in need of some experienced (current) Stage Management adjudicators (and possibly some for Scenic Design & Lighting Design).

The competition is on Thursday, March 31, from about 12-5pm (none of these categories goes longer than 3 hours, though) in SALEM. We are paying ($100)...and need two adjudicators for each category.

I have attached the adjudication forms so you know what you would be adjudicating.

Please contact me ASAP if you have any questions or are available & seriously interested. This is an exciting opportunity to see the wonderful work high school students across Oregon are doing...and these may be your proteges someday!!!

Thank you SO much!
Zena
