JANE auditions for NOVEMBER by David Mamet

JANE a theater company will be holding auditions for our next project, November, by David Mamet. November is a hilarious, farcical satire of an election campaign doomed to fail. Directed by Elizabeth Huffman.

November opens at Theater!Theatre! on June 21 though July 21.

Rehearsals will begin on May 14. There is some pay. Non Equity actors only.

Auditions will be held on Monday, Feb 27th from 6:30-10.

Indent Studios 1535 SE 9th Ave

Auditions will consist of cold reads only.

Roles available

Charles Smith: (40-60’s) The President of the United States: Lead

Never off of the stage, he is by turns a demonically shrewd, cheerfully corrupt, torture happy, inept, needy, intellectually clueless loser of a politician! A terrific role, originally played by Nathan Lane, he is capable of turning on an emotional dime faster than the speed of light. Desperate to get re-elected, he will do anything he can to make it happen despite the fact that his numbers are at the all time lowest in history.

The Turkey Guy: (age open): large supporting role

He represents, and is responsible to, the company who provides the turkey that the President pardons every Thanksgiving. The year before the turkey got sick so this year they bring two turkeys just in case and he is fanatically devoted to his feathered friends health and well being determined to make sure nothing happens to them this time.

Dwight Grackle: Native American (range: 40-60) – small but hilariously memorable supporting role- should be a big powerful guy.

Chief of his tribe: describes himself as “ the incarnation of “raven”, the trickster, messenger of DOOM”. An imposing, insanely revenge motivated warrior, he is hot tempered, out for blood, and deliciously violent.

Auditions for "Body Awareness" by Annie Baker

Hello All,

Lucky Apple Productions will be producing Annie Baker's "Body Awareness" this fall at Coho Theater with Gretchen Corbett directing. On March 4th we will be holding auditions for the following roles:

Phyllis: 40's-50's, any ethnicity. High school teacher. Mother to Jared and partner to Joyce.

Joyce: 40's-50's, any ethnicity. College professor. Partner to Phyllis.

Jared: 20's, any ethnicity. Works at McDonalds. Son to Phyllis. May or may not have aspergers.

Frank: 50's-60's, white male. Artistic photographer. Guest artist staying with Phyllis, Joyce, and Jared for a week

Story: The play is set in the fictional small town of Shirley, Vermont, where Phyllis, a college campus organizer for Body Awareness Week (whose topics range from a dance troupe of refugee Palestinian children to an eating disorder seminar) lives with her partner Joyce, a high school social studies teacher, and Joyce's 21-year-old son Jared, from a prior marriage. Jared shows several symptoms of Asperger's syndrome, but he refuses to see a therapist for treatment. Their houseguest is a middle-aged photographer named Frank Bonitatibus, whose artistic photos of nude women offend Phyllis. Frank's presence exacerbates the already existing tension between the three of them, and when Joyce agrees to pose for one of Frank's pictures, this threatens her relationship with Phyllis. Meanwhile, Jared, a self-described autodidact who works at McDonald's until he successfully tries to get fired because he hates his co-workers, asks Frank for advice on how to attract women

Thank you so much and I look forward to hearing from you.

Auditions: Children's Interactive Series

The FUNDA Organization is casting roles for an ongoing interactive series.

Non-Union, SAG/AFTRA considered
Pay: 100-175/shooting day
Dates: Rehearsals mid-may. Shoot late may through mid june. Ongoing weekly update videos (4 shoot days/month) from Sept-November.

Auditions: Feb 27th and Feb 29th 7pm-10pm

Please submit headshot and resume to the following email address: info(at)watchthedigits.com
with the subject line "Audition" plus the role you're interested in. Please keep file sizes small. We will contact those selected to audition via email with sides and schedule. Audition will consist of a cold read with a reader or paired actor.

Title: The Digits
Abstract: An outer space rock band saves the galaxy from an evil record label executive who is using subliminal messages to make people stupider.

Roles:

Pavi
Female age: 18+ to play 16
Race: Indian American
Singing and Guitar/Bass experience ability preferred.

Pavi is a middle kid from a small Indian American family. She likes to find ways to stand out and has always insisted on doing things her own way. She’s a whiz at math, has an adventurous spirit and a competitive nature. Which all adds up to there never being a dull moment if Pavi is around. She tends to get a good idea and charge into it without fully thinking through the consequences. Her constructive/destructive habits have gained her a good knowledge of how things work, but her rash decisions lead to trouble almost as often as they lead to exciting escapades.

The Galaxy Twinz: Chad and Becky
Age: Early to mid 20's.
Race: Any
1 Male, 1 Female
Singing/musical ability preferred. Duos considered.

The twinz are vat-grown, prefab pop stars. They are clones of clones grown from a plant-like material designed to be the perfect music sensations. They are, in brief, pretty but dumb. Their look is ever changing; always chasing the latest trends, so they're not above adding an extra eye ball or dying their skin purple if the fashion blogs say that's what's in.

Though they're twins, they're not exactly equal (or identical).

Becky: As far as Becky is concerned, the Universe owes her a living. The eldest of the two twins (by 2 minutes) she's the bossier of the two. At her core, she is shameless….Kim Kardashian shameless…OJ Simpson's book Shameless, and conniving to boot. Her values are: fame, money, the money that comes with fame and she'll stop at nothing to get it. You remember those Barbie dolls that used to say "Math is hard, let's go shopping!"? Becky's one of those.

Chad: Chad, being younger, is often in Becky's shadow. He seems to have some sort of bizarre Daddy issue with Doomfinger (his boss). He wants doomfinger to not just like him and approve of him, but maybe one day inherit the Doomfinger empire. Chad can be as conniving and intense as Becky, but is less confident. Whereas Becky feels it's a given that people will like her, Chad feels the need to be liked.

RoadieTron 3000:
Male
Puppetteering/mask work experience a plus
Age: Any (must be over 18).
Race: Any
RoadieTron 3000 is the boxy, creaky old robot that carries the gear, plays the backing tracks, and generally has to be the gopher for Doomfinger and the Twins. He's been around a long time…has seen many bands (good and bad) succeed and fail. He's got plenty of war stories from the rock and roll road, but you'll have to pry them out of him. He speaks with a resigned fury that befits a robot who wanted to retire decades ago.
