Auditions: Monday, February 27, 2012

This post contains auditions posted on Monday, February 27, 2012.

Sorry about the break in getting auditions posted. Hard to work, act, and play, and keep up on this daily. Don't forget to show the love by sharing this blog with friends and fellow actors in need of work. Also, there is a support my blog link on the side of the page if you want to show monetary love.

This post will continue to be updated as new audition notices are discovered, so please check back throughout the day.

If you are a fan of the blog, please share this with actor friends. If you have any feedback for me on how to improve my blog, share this with me so that I may work on improving the blog.

Thanks.

Costa Rehab auditions (Portland, OR)

Book of Dreams Productions will hold auditions for its spring show, COSTA REHAB by local playwright Rich Rubin, for a May 24-June 23 run. I'm calling this officially an "unpaid" gig, but if we get good audience numbers to come see it, chances are you'll get something.

Description:

Wheeler and Corso, two injured Iraq veterans, are recuperating in the rehab unit of a stateside Army hospital. Their friendship is based on a profane camaraderie and a shared, if unstated, experience of war. Both men, however, are bored and sliding towards burnout, worn down by the weight of their injuries and the impersonal face of the Army bureaucracy. The arrival of Davis, a third injured vet, serves to rejuvenate the other two soldiers, providing them with a fresh, if unconventional, mission to focus on. Their subversive quest on Davis's behalf leads to a renewed sense of hope for all three of them.

Characters:
Corso -- male, early twenties
Wheeler -- male, early twenties
Lewicki -- female, mid-thirties
Cramer -- female, mid-twenties
Davis -- male, early twenties
Cinnamon -- female, late twenties [This role has already been cast.]

Respond to this post for audition location and requirements. Thanks.

Open casting Indie Feature (Oregon)

Looking to fill various roles for a awesome supernatural bicker flick filming this summer. I need people that would be willing to travel to Bend for a week this July. Followed by a week of shooting in the Eugene and Albany area's. Here is a breakdown of the roles.

Bobbie Sue - (lead)late 20's All-American girl, brunette preferably, quiet strength, ability to dance. This is a tough role, she sheds a lot of tears and endures a tremendous amount of horror and humiliation. A lot of spirit and faith, she will never waver.

Statch (lead) 30-45 yo president of the Satans Sinners MC - Rugged handsome, calm, and collected but with the ability to turn violent in a moments notice, charismatic.

Jeremiah -(Lead) The Small town priest... is also the small town drunk. - average height, thinner guy, sleazy, greasy hair, 30-ish, cynical and a bit perverted. A lot of comedy in this role. He will only work with spot on delivery and timing.

Pedophile Pete- 30's member of the Satan's Sinners MC - bigger guy, dirty, always inappropriate, something off about him.

The Sheriff- (Lead) 50's- oozing manly bravado. A strong willed thick headed good ole boy. I could see this guy with a TX twang to go with the flask in his back pocket.

Small amount of compensation is available. Travel and food also provided. The Bend shoot would be a camping like arrangement.

Theater scene needs extras -Thursday from 1:30pm to 5:00pm (The Valley Theater)

I Play With The Phrase Each Other (IPWTPEO) is a local indie/student feature film looking for some extras for this upcoming Thursday. We'd like to cast 15 people to fill a few seats inside Valley Theater in Beaverton. The look is for upper-middle class, 30-50 year olds who are dressed conservatively (PTA conference attendees as opposed to the fashion forward/hip Portland look).

Description of the film:
The film chronicles over sixty characters in a vast matrix of incessant correspondence. The story this correspondence forms begins with Jake, a young neurotic who is persuaded to leave his small hometown and move to the city to live with his friend Sean, a fanatical poet who survives by swindling inexperienced Craigslist customers. When Jake arrives in the city Sean has disappeared, and as he struggles to secure a job and a place to stay, Jake discovers a nocturnal world of neon poverty in which his friend is thriving.

Please send a headshot or photo, and put "Theater Extra" in the subject line if you'd like to be in our movie.

Many thanks!

West Linn Elementary Volunteer Need

My friend Val Prothero is organizing the "Read To Us" event for one of the elementary schools in the West Linn School District. It is scheduled to take place March 12-14.

Every year, the classes have a variety of people from the community come in to read to the kids, representing different fields wherein the skill of reading is critical. The community members are invited to come in and read, but also encouraged to talk with the kids about their craft.

This year, a couple of the classes are wanting to have a professional or working actor come in to read, especially since all of the kids are well aware of the movie world (and some to the stage world), but few understand the connection of reading to those worlds.

Is there a chance that any of you know of an actor who is connected to the West Linn community who might be interested in being a reader for this event? Or someone who is not connected who might be available & interested?

If so, or if you are interested in being a volunteer one of those days, then please respond directly to Val to schedule attendance at the event.

THANK YOU!!!!
Zena
