Due to some upcoming early morning shoots, I wanted to give everyone a heads up that the daily post time for auditions may vary moving forward.
Now, back to our topic of discussion for the remaining few days of this week! We have spent some time focusing on finding auditions, audition preparation, and booking the right type of work. No matter how talented and gorgeous you may be, it always comes down to who you know, or rather, who knows you.
With Portland being such a small city compared to the LA and NYC markets, I am very surprised and impressed by how many networking events there are every month and even every week. Were you aware of these networking events and opportunities to mingle with Portland's film community?
With six made-in-Portland films premiering over the next six weeks, along with the monthly Portland Independent Film Meet-up (or find it here on Facebook), the weekly get together on Wednesday nights for Megann's Night, and OMPA events, this is enough to keep any local actor busy with networking.
How important is it to make an appearance at these events, and how much does it make a difference in your career? Do you attend any or all of these events? How has it affected the work you are getting, and how have you grown from attending these events?

Costumer and prop people needed

STAGES Performing Arts Youth Academy in Hillsboro is looking for people who are willing to lead parent committees (or a committee consisting of people you know) in costume and props.
The show is HENRY AND RAMONA and it takes place in Portland, Oregon in the early 1950s.
Rehearsal have already begun and the show opens June 10.
They are nonpaying positions, but you will get a lot of love and we are very nice people to work with!!!!

We are seeking a talented young filmmaker to work with a world-wide brand, creating a series of videos for a new product web-site launch. The new product line involves musical instruments for kids (specifically the Paper Jamz toy line).
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has a good knowledge of music. This could be a full time position for a few months. We will provide cameras, lights, and sound equipment. Filmmaker will be in charge of creative design, and writing as well as video production. This is a great way to showcase your talent.

Arcana casting call #1 - May 1 (Portland)
"Arcana," an independent web series produced in and around Portland, is seeking an actress for the part of Syrus. The casting call will be on May 1st, from 12-2PM at:

Role specifications - Syrus is a Guardian, and part of an ancient sect of warrior protectors. She is a "type A" personality that is focused on getting the job done. However, she also needs to express a softer side, for in the episode we are shooting she comes into contact with a lover from a past life.
Actress specifications:
- 20s age range
- athletic build
- skin and hair color/style not specified
- tattoos welcome, but not required
- ability to deliver one or two lines with a British accent
As of now, shooting dates for the role are as follows:

-June 12
-June 19
Due to the large number of speaking Guest Star roles we have, it is not possible to offer financial compensation for this role. Craft services will be available on set, and if transportation to and from shoots is needed, it will be arranged.

Arcana casting call #2 - May 1 (Portland)
"Arcana," an independent web series produced in and around Portland, is seeking actresses for several small roles. The casting call will be on May 1st, from 2-4PM at:

The roles are broken down into two categories:
- Three Harpies
When most people think about Harpies, they picture grotesque, winged beings. Well, we're trying to destroy those images! Our Harpies are going to have a much different look.
Actress specifications:
- 20s or 30s
- athletic build
- skin and hair color not specified
- comfortable with appearance of body (no nudity, see costume below)
Costume: leggings, bare feet, bikini top, some facial make-up, and some natural material (bird feathers, sticks, leaves, etc.) placed into the hair.
One of the Harpies has a small speaking role. The other two will flank the first throughout the scene.
For the roles of the Harpies, the ability to change into the costume specified above (not provided by the producers), at the casting call, would be helpful, but is not required.
As of now, the shooting date for the Harpies is scheduled for May 27th.
- Three "Women at bar"
We need three women, dressed for a night out on the town, who sit at a table in a bar having some drinks. They are then engaged by the main character of the series for a brief exchange of dialogue.
Actress specifications:
- 20s or 30s
- skin and hair color not specified
These roles all have small speaking parts. The shooting date for the Women at Bar is scheduled for May 15th.
Due to the high number of Guest Star roles we cast, there is no financial compensation offered for the parts. Craft services will be available on set.

Musician Required to Score Short Film
Thieves is an 8-10 minute short film that is currently under production. We want to work with a talented musician, preferably with some sort of experience doing this kind of thing and come up with a great score for the film.
