Auditions for Lakewood Theatre's, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"

About the Play: The Herdmans were absolutely the worst kids in the history of the world. They lied and stole and smoked cigars (even the girls) and talked rough and hit little kids and talked back to their teachers. So it surprised just about everybody when they decided to take part in the town's Christmas Pageant. The Herdman kids had never heard of the Christmas story, but the way they interpreted it, you'd think the story of Jesus came right out of the F.B.I. files. (They called the Wise Men a bunch of dirty spies). It was a Christmas pageant to remember. An American classic ... one of the best Christmas stories ever told. The play, written by Barbara Robinson and directed by Milli Hoelscher, is an added holiday attraction that has become a tradition with Lakewood audiences for the past 20 years.

Parts needed: 4 men and 6 women (various adult ages), 8 boys and 9 girls (ages 9-15) and a singing angel choir (ages 7-10). The director is seeking young people with self-confidence, good vocal skills and stage presence. Please bring a photo and resume and be prepared to read. Parents will be asked to sign agreement forms. Call 503-635-3901 for an appointment time.

Audition location: Lakewood Theatre Company at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.
Audition Date: Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 - Auditions for speaking roles (ages 9-adult)
Audition Date: Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 - Auditions for angel choir (ages 7-10)
