Monkswell Manor, the news on the radio reports a murder has recently
taken place in London. Mollie and Giles Ralston, the young owners of the
once-regal estate recently converted into a guesthouse, hardly notice
the news. They are far too busy preparing for the arrival of their first
guests and concerned the heavy snowfalls may prevent the guests
reaching their destination. As the guests arrive safely and the Manor
becomes snowed in, a policeman arrives on skis suspecting one of the
seven occupants may be the killer. After a second murder occurs in the
Manor, Sergeant Trotter is convinced.
Suspects include the young
married couple, a spinster with a curious background, an architect who
seems better equipped to be a chef, a retired army major, and an
unexpected visitor who claims his car has run into a snowdrift. During
his interrogation, Sergeant Trotter uncovers the many mysterious secrets
of everyone present, as he tries to solve the murder in true Christie
style.

Actresses Wanted for short drama film (Portland)
I
am currently a film student, doing independent film work in addition to
school work as well, and am preparing to shoot a short film tentatively
titled "Intersection", which follows a collection of female characters
at different stages in their lives all approaching the same street
intersection and whom are possibly on the verge of having a multi-car
accident there. Each character has a legitimate reason for being
distracted, which might make her responsible for an accident, and
furthermore these characters are interconnected with one another. I am
looking for actresses to fill in the roles of these various characters
for which I have listed below. Each character has their own parts in the
film, each of which will be approximately five minute segments.
CHARACTERS/SCENES:
ERIKA
(20-30 years old) - a young woman working as a pizza delivery person
who is caught up in the sluggishness of her life, which goes in conflict
with her job which requires her to rush all around town making timely
deliveries. As she reflects on her life, while in a rush, she is quite
distracted.
NADINE (30-35 years old) - something of a "soccer
mom" type character, who is very caught up in her busy life, which
primarily focuses on her multiple children. Her greatest distraction is
repeatedly having to check her cell phone, distracting her repeatedly.
GEENA
(30-35 years old) - woman in a very unhappy and lifeless marriage of
which she feels no happiness or spark from. Due to this she has to find
her own ways to seek release in life. As she is out on a drive alone on a
straightaway she tries to find some pleasure in speeding, which puts
her in a dangerous place as she approaches the intersection.
ABBY
& TORRY (both about 25 years old) - a young lesbian couple who have
found themselves becoming listless together and are about to go out of
town to try and spice up their rather young relationship. As they try
and have a serious talk and connection they become distracted
approaching the intersection.
CHELSEY (character is 16-17 years
old, played by someone around 18-20 years of age) - a young driver on
her way to a friends house after having a fight with her parents over
the way she's been leading her young life. Distracted by inexperience
and her exaggerated frustration at her parents.
LYNDSEY (20 years
old) - An inexperienced driver without a license who borrows a friends
car after another friend calls her with an emergency in which her help
is needed. The simple fact that she is a poor driver, caught up in her
friends recent emergency, makes her a liability out on the road.
LYDIA
(20-25 years old) - has been in an abusive relationship for the past
couple years and she has chosen this day to try and flee at all cost.
She doesn't know until she's out on the road that her possessive
boyfriend is aware of her efforts to try and get away.

Casting Call for Short Film (Portland, OR)
If you are a late 20s, early 30s man who would like to audition to play the role of DAVE, please contact Arthur at arthursmid@ymail.com. Although it's low-budget and no-pay, we hope to create an excellent little movie.
CEDAR RAPIDS CHESS CLUB is a comedy about a trio of middle schoolers and two older guys estranged from their peer group. It's an awkward time for the boys. Elliott's parents are in the midst of a divorce and his dad has left for California. Without a father around, Elliott finds a substitute in Dave, leader of the Cedar Rapids Chess Club. Dave talks about taking control of life but his only lever on fate is a screenplay about NYPD officers who travel back in time to stop 9-11. While struggling to follow his calling, Dave's posturing helps inspire Elliott to start making decisions for himself.
Written by Sarah Mirk and directed by Arthur Smid, CEDAR RAPIDS CHESS CLUB is a 22 minute video released online in six parts. Principal photography takes place in February and the first part launches March 13, 2013. The complete episode will be screened in Portland, Oregon and entered into festivals with the intention of finding a distributor. For more information, please see http://www.worldpictures.tv/.

SHORT FILM NEEDS VIETNAMESE ACTORS (Inner Southeast)Greetings!
I'm
a local filmmaker currently working on a short film that's been in
development for the past year called, "Sway of the Knife." With the

now ready to start production!
"Sway" will be shot in two parts: A
"Winter" shoot in February of 2013 and a "Summer" shoot in July or
August of 2013. At the moment we are casting for several supporting
roles and one lead role. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AN "ACTOR," YOU JUST NEED
TO BE ABLE TO ACT.
*We are able to offer compensation for our lead role but the supporting roles will either be volunteer or stipend based.*

-Michael-
25-35
year old Vietnamese male of average build. Having been raised in the US
since early childhood, English is his primary language. However, he can
speak Vietnamese at a grade school level. Michael is a business
professional with a contrived comportment of control and intentionality.
He at one time pursued creative writing educationally and

We are also casting for people who could play a Vietnamese family who speak Vietnamese fluently consisting of the following:
• Father, 45-50 years old
• Mother, 40-45
• Brother 1, 20-30
• Brother 2, 20-30

There
are roles for people in a party scene. We'll have a real party with
food and refreshments! This scene requires a mixture of genders and
ages.
ABOUT THE CASTING PROCESS

throughout December and the first part of the new year. The audition
itself will consist of a reading from the script, a brief conversation
with the director, and possibly some improvisational scene work.
If
you're interested, please send a picture or headshot of yourself. The
picture doesn't need to be professionally done, it just needs to give a
clear idea of what you look like. In your email, also provide the
following information:
1. Name
2. Age
3. Vietnamese Language Skill Level (1-5 with '5' being perfect)
4. English Language Skill Level (1-5 with '5' being perfect)

Actress 20-24 for comedic short film
The
film is about a comedian and investment banker (a couple years out of
college) and we are casting for the banker's assistant. There are two
scenes we'll probably shoot over two days, including one on location in a
cafe. There is a big comedic aspect to the film so comedy chops are

LAST MINUTE CASTING NOTICE!
This is for an independent feature film being shot in February 2013. Please read thoroughly and reply if it fits you... :)
Zach
(30) was orphaned at a young age. He still has resentment towards his
mother whom he feels was somehow responsible for the death of his
father. He’s charismatic and manipulative, has a sharp wit , and is
ego-centric with a sense of entitlement for good measure. He studies
post-grad psychology at Reed College, drinks a little too much, and is
bisexual. After a late night bar room breakup with his boyfriend Tommy,
Zach befriends Mona, the older of two young sisters living alone in the
house of their deceased family.
ABOUT “PRESERVATION”, a film by Steven Richter
There
is something about the loneliness you feel in the company of the ones
closest to you that helps to define who you are. “Preservation” is a
film about letting go of that shared familiar space that no longer
belongs to you. Two young sisters, Mona and Rachel, whose parents are
deceased, live alone in their old childhood house in southeast Portland.
Without parental guidance, they have been left to their own devices, a
reality they experience in completely different ways. While Mona builds
an illusory image of herself as shelter, Rachel finds solace in her
music. A man enters their world and sees an opportunity to assert
control. A boy watches, intervenes. There may be a greater power in
innocence, and the genuine interest people have in one another.
About the Director
Steven
Richter is a Portland, Oregon, based filmmaker. He is the founder and
director of Academia Internacional de Cinema www.aicinema.com.br , a
well known accredited film school located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, that has
produced more than 1500 short films in its 8 years of activities.
Directing credits include The Myth of Drowning (short, Brazil, 2009),
based on a story by New York writer Dawn Raffel, and Center of
Gravity(feature, Brazil, 2009), which was a nominee for the New
Directors Competition at the São Paulo International Film Festival in
2011, and made the official selection for the Raindance Film Festival in
London in 2012. He is the founder and director of two production
companies: Universal Remote Films (São Paulo, Brazil), connected to
Academia Internacional de Cinema, producer of “Center of Gravity”) and
Reverie Films (Portland, U.S.A.), which is currently producing his next
feature film, “Preservation”, to be shot in Portland in February 2013.
