DP and Director - Micro Budget Holiday Film shooting early 2013 (Medford, Oregon)
Looking for a DP (with camera) that would like to join a team shooting a micro-budget Christmas/Family feature just after the new year in Southern Oregon. This is a 3 week shoot, and the budget is very small, but if it works, and we make something magical, there will be more projects.
I am also searching for the perfect director to join our team that has experience with family films.
As stated, this is a micro-budget feature, so if you need to make a normal rate, please don't respond. We don't expect people to work for free, but this budget is very small. We will provide money for travel expenses and housing as well.
Please email if interested with a link to previous work, and a little information including type of camera you own plus the lowest rate you will take for a shoot with 14 camera days.

Facing a lengthy stretch at the work farm penitentiary, boisterous,
brawling Randall P. McMurphy feigns mental illness and is transferred
to a psychiatric hospital. There he finds a motley group of
misanthropes, kept drugged, broken and subservient under the
merciless regime of Nurse Ratched. McMurphy rallies the other
patients and challenges Ratched's authority, opening their minds to
the power of revolution. This uprising soon develops into an all-out
war between staff and patients, in a struggle for the freedom of the
ordinary man. Funny, shocking and profoundly moving, this play is one
of the classics of American drama, and an enduring story of one
individual's struggle against the system.

Seeking a Few Strong HandsThe Portland Revels is looking for a few strong hands to round out the scenic load-in crew for this year's Revels. I need three more hands to work on Tuesday, 11/27 and Monday, 12/17, 9am both days. This is not a full day's work - you can expect to be off mid-day. The same crew working both days is ideal but not necessarily a deal-breaker. We will have a bunch of people on hand, but you should know that whatever doesn't fit in the elevator must be carried cautiously up 1.5 stories of (reasonably wide) stairs. Your pay is $50 each day, plus donuts and coffee.
For those interested in experience in scenic and lighting work, or who just want to see the show for free, we are looking for daytime volunteers on 11/26, 11/27, 11/28, and/or 12/17. If you're interested in volunteering, let me know, or (ideally) sign up on this site: <http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/784299916012>. You don't have to sign up for a full day, we just need your name on the list so we know who to look for on a given day at a given time.
Thanks!

Mask & Mirror Traveling ThespiansWe will be holding general auditions for this new Troupe:
Thursday, November 8, 2012, from 7-9 pm
Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 1-3 pm
Auditions will be held at the Faith Journey Church,
11265 Southwest Gaarde Street, Tigard, OR 97224
Opening Gala Performances will be January 4, 5, 6, 2013
Who We Are:
Mask & Mirror Traveling Thespians (M&MTT) are a satellite troupe of performers from the Mask & Mirror Community Theatre: Actors, Singers, Dancers, Acrobats, Poets, Comedians, Playwrights, Directors, Musicians, Performance Artists of All Manner and Vision.
We have been given a grant from the Washington County Cultural Coalition / Oregon Cultural Trust to develop the M&MTT concept as a unique way of marketing Mask & Mirror Community Theatre. This grant will cover professional quality costumes and props, and pay required royalties.
Mask & Mirror Community Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all volunteer organization. All performers, crew, musicians and other support personnel are unpaid.
What We Do:
We go out into our Community (Tigard & Tualatin), using our talent to show people what M&M has to offer as a way to attract them back to our larger stage shows.
We will perform 1 or more free 30-40 min performances per month (12 are required before June 30, 2013, per our grant). The performances will each have an Emcee hosting the show (think Bob Hope doing the USO tours.) All shows will have a bit of a vaudeville feel to them.
Most of our shows consist of at least 3 'acts:' a song, an acting performance of some sort, and then "other," be it comedian, dancing . . . etc.
Each performance will have a theme. We will be starting in January/February with the theme of love.
Where We Perform:
We go to Senior Centers, Community Centers, Libraries, Hospitals . . . anyplace that wants us to perform for them in Tigard, Tualatin or adjacent communities. We go to entertain, but we simultaneously advertise Mask and Mirror. We do not charge for these performances, but we will put out a "Donation Jar" to support Mask & Mirror Community Theatre if allowed by the venue.
Audition details:
Each performer gets 2 minutes with the M&MTT Artistic Board to showcase their talent:
- If you are an actor and have a prepared monologue and want to do it, wonderful.
- If you want to do a monologue, but don't have one, that is ok too! We will have both a male and female monologue available to do as a cold reading as part of your 2 minutes.
- If you want to sing, bring a CD of music or sheet music and we will have a CD player and pianist available.
- If you want to dance, or show us a sample of your poetry, juggle, clown . . . whatever, it is up to you how you fill that time.
(If you have ever been to the PATA auditions, these will be similar to those auditions).
Please bring a resume and a head shot if you have them. If you don't, we will have a form that you can fill out when you arrive and someone to take your picture.
We will be casting an undetermined number of Troupe members. Troupe members should not expect to participate in every performance (casting will be based on theme, timing, and availability of talent) except the Opening Gala on Jan 4, 5 & 6 at the Tualatin Heritage Center, 8700 SW Sweek Drive, Tualatin 97062
Volunteers:
If you would like to volunteer to help out with M&MTT, but not necessarily be a performer in the troupe (costumes, props, transportation, etc.), we invite you to come to the auditions on 11/8 and 11/10. We have some positions at the auditions that volunteers can fill, and we will also be able to discuss with you at the audition how you might be able to work with us in the future!
Thank you for your interest in the Mask & Mirror Traveling Thespians. We are very excited to be able to get this new venture up and running!
We hope you can join us!

Field Reporter / Producer
Sustainable Today is a cable access program that convers the entire specturm of sustainability topics including social, economic and environmental issues. We produce once a month from Portland Community Media and the show is seen statewide over OPAN and OPB's Plus (10-2) channel.
We need volunteers to go with camera crews and interview & produce field segments for each show. These are project based segments that document a particular sustainable practice. They will be presented in series format from one program to another. Each 30 minute program will contain two or 3 of these segments. They may focus on a business that has benefited and/or is actively involved in sustainable activities and practices. Or, they may highlights grassroots, non-profit, local efforts to promote and advance sustainability. Most of the work is in the Portland metro area but we have and will travel statewide if necessary. We will take as many qualified volunteers as we can get.
The ideal person would be a journalism student or intern with a keen interest and developed research, interview and reporting skill as well as on-camera presentation talent. You will be required to research, contact, set up and report on-camera the various field pieces.
This is a polished production so if you are keen on sustainability and the environment, and want to gather some experience for your resume or even your personal life, you will be working with a seasoned veteran news photographer and an experienced crew. This is not your ordinary public access show.
This program is an all volunteer effort. None of the producers, directors, talent or crew are paid.
We need CREW positions too. For studio crew positions, certification from Portland Community Media is required, for field work that uses PCM equipment, certification is also required.
No certification is required for on camera talent or for shoots where your own equipment (if you have it) is used.
We are seeking funding for wider distribution and national exposure through our non-profit organization called The Center for a Sustainable Today.
So there is a possibility this could turn into a more permanent paid position down the road.
See us at http://sustainabletoday.org
Please include your resume and a photo if you have one. Looking forward to your responses.
